SPOILERS for Super Mario 3D World below!
Opinions from last week looked pretty split. Some of you said the Lucky 7 item from Mario Kart 7 was nothing more than a gimmick and needed to stay behind. Others thought the item had a place in the next Mario Kart, some suggesting that an eighth item be added to create a Lucky 8 item. Time will tell if this item ever makes another appearance! Moving onto this week…
Was Revealing Rosalina a Good Move?
During the most recent Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced the addition of Rosalina as an unlockable and playable character in Super Mario 3D World. Fans got to see the new gal running through levels, using her signature Spin Jump move. We even got a glimpse at a Super Mario Galaxy level, complete with the Comet Observatory in the background.

Now the question is whether or not this character should have stayed a secret. It’s always an awesome feeling when players complete a game or finish an objective and end up unlocking some kind of awesome reward. Now that nearly everyone knows about Rosalina, that kind of secret is no longer there. This isn’t to say that there aren’t any more cool secrets to unlock and find in 3D World, but we are definitely not getting that shock factor when we see the character pop up on screen.
But is this something Nintendo had to do to fire up excitement for the game. It’s clear that playable characters are very important to some fans, so has this pushed anyone over to buy the game? Has this mere announcement pushed anyone to get a Wii U for this game? Was the sacrifice of the surprise worth it to help boost interest and even sales for both Super Mario 3D World and the Wii U? I’m interested to see what you guys think!
