Indeed it is a lot, but it does provide good variety in the gameplay of the game, allowing each experience to be a completely different one (since it is completely linear, so they have to make more spaces in order to make each game interesting).
My one problem is that some spaces become a little rare, namely the 1-vs-3/1-vs-2 spaces. I rarely see those mini-games in game, which in itself defeats the purpose of an ENTIRE category (and with a mini-star spread that is absolutely abysmal, it feels as though they just ignored the significance of 1-vs-Rivals).
And not to mention, more is usually better, except having too much would obviously be a problem. But it was a little bland when the majority of spaces HAD to be Blue/Red (otherwise, there would be too many randomized colors at the end of each turn, so it their abundance was a necessity). But with the new game mechanic, they could easily expand on the spaces, and make it so that each space will have a different kind of event.
25 spaces may be a lot though, but they balance it for the most part (mostly in Duel games though, the 1-vs-Rivals spaces are lacking when they are available).
