Looks nice and all, but why base it on sticker star? Just knowing that make me want to ignore the game

    HYPE!

    Wow!

Looks really cool on paper (pun completely intended), but I’m a little frightened on how similar this game looks to Sticker Star.

  • I kinda predicted that the next Paper Mario game would be based on something “craft-related” (color, paint, scissors, drawing tools). PMCS has great presentation & graphics for a Wii U game and the flat models look very life-like (which is a great thing). But the whole part of colors being sucked by something reminds me of Sonic Generations’ story (except time travel). I do hope Prism Island or the main hub area for this game has more stuff to do around the area besides repeating the same task just to clear a situational task. I’m curious how the color mechanic works, and I hope it’s functional and intuitive at the same time.

I’m just glad there is an RPG game for the Wii U I can actually play. I was a little worned out with three Mario RPG games on the 3DS. I know the video buffers weirdly. It’s just a screwy hiccup on the stream.

If I have to make one prediction, a Blooper boss (in any shape or form) will appear in this game. It makes perfect sense. Maybe the Color Blooper. I’m calling it right now.

It looks like the levels will be styled like Sticker Star.

What they should have done is have things that would be drawn on the GamePad. You can fold paper into origami or draw on paper with a pen (the stylus). When you level up by getting 100 star points, you can choose from HP, OP (How much paper you can carry with you), or AP (How many Paper & Pen attacks you can hold).

    Looks beautiful graphic wise.

So who’s hyped for sticker star 2? 😛
    …let’s just ignore okay?

  • DJ Colyton

Definitely disappointed, but I will try to stay positive. Not a fan of this ”Sticker Star” concept… maybe once we get more info I’ll give this a chance. For now, I’ll just skip it.

I honestly think people are over reacting to this game. The people on Youtube are acting like the world is ending because this game shares similarities to sticker star.

While it’s true that the Paper Mario series will never again be the same as the three awesome superior first games, Colour Splash seems okay in its own right. Passable for a purchase.

I will play this game since after Paper Mario is my favorite out of the RPG series, although I am kind of disappointed that they didn’t go back to the original style the series had before. Everyone’s now saying this is Paper Mario Sticker Star 2 even though it takes place from a different perspective. I hope this game will at least be better than Sticker Star (which it might) cause if not I’m still gonna try it though. Also since nintendo didn’t learn that this is not the kind of Paper Mario that people wanted, something tells that if Mario Party 11 happens I’m gonna freaking bet they’re going to use the car AGAIN!! WHICH I DO NOT WANT TO HAPPEN FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A FREAKING ROW, but just you watch and see (please prove me wrong nintendo)

Am I the only who was overjoyed regardless of the Sticker Star-like design? I liked Sticker Star. I didn’t find it inferior to the other three. While Super Paper Mario, was DEFINITELY better than Sticker Star, Sticker Star was still good. It felt unique, with the sticker system and all. I had a LOT of fun with it. It was SO satisfying when I finished off Bowser with a barrage of my favorite Thing stickers. It was like the game wanted you to feel over-powered. Needless to say, Sticker Star was great, and that doesn’t mean Color Splash won’t be great. It feels unique in its own right with the paint mechanic, the graphics and environment look absolutely stunning, and most importantly, it looks FUN. I look forward to getting my hands on a copy of Paper Mario: Color Splash! (I’m probably not disappointed that it’s not TTYD 2 because it’s the only Paper Mario game I have never played, and I just couldn’t get used to the controls in Paper Mario (N64), so there.)

No I really excited for the game! =)

    • RLWilliams3D

I’m excited too. Can’t say the same for everyone else :T

  • SpiderStaryu

I liked Sticker Star a lot, but it’s definitely no Paper Mario 64 or Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door.

I’m going to give the game a chance, wait till I see more before I can REALLY really judge. But my opinion so far is not exactly great. When I saw the Paint Can partner, I literally just could not stop laughing… LMAO

  • Zympherior

It looks really good! But the gameplay seems SS-y…
From what I see, there are only 5 worlds to explore on the world map, like in SS. (And most likely the final area is hidden until the end). 6 “chapters” again.
And the card system, although really similar to the sticker system, seems to add something. Namely the RBY colors. Seems like, in a way, those will be the “Flower Points” of this game, except that you’ll need it for every attack instead of the special ones only. (Special ones might consume a good chunk of it)
And that living bucket seems kinda generic to be the “Starlow” or “Kersti” of PMCS. Partners? (Speculation. Maybe not…)

As long as it has a story and a level system, i’m fine with this, my one complaint or rather concern over this game is the visuals. Take it, they look INCREDIBLE, but at the same time it looks….to 3D, and not really paper like previous but it still can’t wait.

Also Paper Bowser is already confirmed for this game, considering there is a castle in the top right corner of the map screenshot with pillars with spiked shells on them.

Now I wait for Paper Kamek comformation.

  • RLWilliams3D

I hope we get partners, a decent story and a reason to fight enemies in this game, or else it’ll be as hated as Sticker Star (if it isn’t already).

    • Geoman

same I want partners too OR other playable characters like in Super Paper Mario

      • :)

Paper Luigi, Peach, Bowser, and…maybe Rosalina and Yoshi?
        I wish…

    • Mr. Dubstep

Sorry guys. The Japanese footage shows Mario being rewarded with just coins. No EXP.

    YES YES YES

  • Boo3DSmashBoo

I can’t wait for this game. I don’t care about how similar it may or may not be to sticker star, it’s a new paper mario game and that by itself is worth of hype. I even liked sticker star so I’m not really bothered with the similarities. The visuals look simply outstanding and I really like the theme they’re going for with paint. I also like the fact that the adventure takes place not in Mushroom Kingdom, I haven’t seen enough to say there are brand-new areas instead/apart from the usual desert, grasslands, etc. but I really hope there are, because seeing the same types of areas in every mario game starts getting old. One thing that I also liked was the the battle system or the little we saw of it, I like the fact that you basically use your fingers to battle, I dunno if that is something I’ll get tired of eventually but the concept of it looks more appealing than pressing a button, it gives the player more interaction.

  • Geoman

I am just saying this better not be like sticker star, sticker star is a good etemped to bring paper Mario to handhelds
But Console Paper Mario games need to be great so I hope its like the 1st 3 games

  • Mr. Luiginary

I do plan on getting this game. But here’s the top 5 things that I want this game to have:
    1. Experience Points & Level-Up System
    2. Partners (So everyone else can shut up)
    3. Interesting uses of the GamePad
    4. More unique levels (designs and themes)
    5. Interesting sidequests to do

  • Mr. Dubstep

What if the partners (if it isn’t just Mr. Bucket) are different paint tools, allowing Mario to paint specific things? I’m thinking of a paint brush, roller, etc.

    • GreenPiggy

Totally what I was thinking. But I doubt Nintendo will make this game GOOD! 🙁

  • Pikachu Trainer

This series is becoming about as bad as the sonic series when it comes to staying with a working formula. This is the third d*mn time we got a new gameplay style and it’s getting old. First sticker star just having a ton of problems, I heard paper jam had a lot of glitches but I haven’t played it yet, and now we have this. Like what the h*ll happened? I’m convinced they did it because the nx is coming soon so why even bother unless nintendo seriously just didn’t want it to be like thousand year door. The damage has been done, unless they really do something fast, no ones gonna be excited which will hurt the sales. So bravo nintendo, I give u one clap.
    *clap*
