Mini Star #1
Start the level by talking to Toad who apparently can’t jump very high. He’s on a quest to find a Thing needed to melt the freezer in Tangerino Grill. After chatting, watch as he happily jumps away. Anyway! Move to the right and hop onto the sinking and rising platforms. Time your jumps correctly by jumping just when the other is about to sink.
When you reach the line of sinking platforms, wait until they all rise before you sprint to the other side. Enter the door to reach a room filled with Piranha Plants. Start making your way around the room until you reach the Snifit. Take his words seriously! If you were to number each of the six platforms from left to right, the order in which you need to stand on each one is as follows:
1, 2, 3, 2, 3, 4, 5
On the other side, keep following the path, ignoring the platform that lunges out to the right. Once you each the back wall, color in the white spot on the right to get that platform moving. Return to the platform that lunges out to the right. Hop onto the front as it starts moving to get to the center island .From there, use the platform you restored to get to the door.
In the next room, there is little point in following the steps as they don’t lead to anything. Color in the white spots, take out the Bob-ombs, use the Roullete Door, then enter Cutout mode when all the lava matches to make up to the door.
In the next room you’ll be facing off with a Big Lava Bubble. If you don’t come prepared with the right cards, this one might be tricky. Since the guy is literally a ball of lava, most of your jump and hammer attacks won’t work. Hopefully you were collecting Ice Flowers throughout the level as they are definitely effective here.
Once the battle is over, head into the hot springs area through the door ahead. Talk to the both Red Toad Rescue Squad members, then grab the Hair Dryer Thing. Walk through the waterfall on the left and follow the steps to get to the Mini Paint Star at the top spring. This will unlock a path to Toad Trainworks.
Mini Star #2
This Mini Paint Star is very easy to get, provided you’re listening to the game’s audio! Start the level and start moving to the right. You should hear the Mini Paint Star jingle as you approach the line of sinking platforms. Stand on the first platform and let it sink. On the left ais a hidden cave with the Mini Paint Star! This will unlock a path to Vortex Island.
