4-Player Minigames (23)

Smashdance
  • Always go for ones that have just lit up. If you want to slow down your opponents then ground pound them, it’ll stun them for a good while.  ~ Slyshi
Odd Card Out
Freeze Frame
What Goes Up…
  • Night: avoid jumping. It’s faster to just move off a cloud or Paratroopa if you get stuck.  ~ P-Merks
Granite Getaway
  • The center is usually the safest place to be. Least amount of obstacles and you’ll be guaranteed to get onto the bridge.  ~ P-Merks
  • If someone ends up on the edge of the bridge, you can push them off by walking towards them.  ~ P-Merks
Circuit Maximus
Catch You Letter
  • The love letters will touch the ground at 15 seconds remaining and 5 seconds remaining.  ~ P-Merks
Snow Whirled
  • Use two hands in order to have a finger on each button. I recommend putting your right index on the A button, your right middle finger on the X button, your left middle finger on the Y button and your left index on the B button!  ~ Spongyoshi
  • Use your shirt or smooth blanket/sheet and rotate softly/gently but fast ABYX clockwise. Don’t press the buttons too hard but move in a circular fashion.  ~ DamianG
  • In this version of the minigame, you cannot be pressing more than 1 button at a time or it will not register. What I do is I slide my right thumb quickly along X-A-B, and then press Y with left thumb and continue in that cycle.  ~ P-Merks
Daft Rafts
  • Don’t try to go too fast, the end platform will only appear after a minute or until there is one player standing, and there can be multiple winners. No need to rush here.  ~ P-Merks
Tricky Tires
  • The players on the left have a massive advantage since the moving pole at the end will usually be blocking the right side once everyone makes it to the end if everyone is going as fast as they can. If you spawn on the right side, once you get past the Thwomps, hold back until the moving pole starts moving to the left if you want a chance at winning otherwise it will push you out of the way and put you in an even worse position.  ~ P-Merks
Treasure Trawlers
  • Press A at the last second if you haven’t since you can still recover something while the minigame has already ended.  ~ Spongyoshi
Memory Lane
Mowtown
  • At the start of the game, go straight as much as you can before turning, and then go straight up or down until you run into someone else. You want to box in as much grass as you can at the start so you will have a large section mostly to yourself.  ~ P-Merks
Cannonball Fun
  • When a player is hit by cannonball, he becomes invulnerable for a short time. During which, you should avoid him and search for another target altogether.  ~ Slowcast
Note to Self
  • Try to keep a note bouncing between the side walls and yourself to rack up a lot of points!  ~ Spongyoshi
  • Be careful to not be bounced on as it costs you a lot of time. Bouncing on others is also risky. While you’re able to reach higher notes, you’re also stuck being slower in the air.  ~ Spongyoshi
Same Is Lame
  • If you can come to an agreement with all of your opponents, you should all choose a different button and stick with it for the full minigame. This way you can all win rather than leaving the winner up to luck.  ~ P-Merks
  • Only the last button you push matters, so you can spam all the buttons for 4 seconds to make your character look really funny and then press the button you want at the last second.  ~ P-Merks
Lift Leapers
  • All four rooms are on the same universal cycle. If you want a massive advantage over your opponents, try a risky jump right at the start of the game to get onto the first platform right away, then move as quickly as possible to the second room. If you are fast enough, you’ll be able to jump onto the lift as it’s moving up and jump right over the spikes without having to wait for the platform to come back down.  ~ P-Merks
Blooper Scooper
  • Hug the sides of the typhoon as much as you can. Unless you get caught by one of the tentacles, a blow from here is usually not fatal!  ~ Spongyoshi
Trap Ease Artist
Pokey Punch-Out
  • Pokey can be jump kicked in the head up to 4 segments tall. Any higher will require players to jump kick off the platform.  ~ Slowcast
Money Belt
  • Always look to the one that’s in the X-Ray and never at the mystery boxes. If the X-Ray has a coin or a Money Bag, after it moves 2 more times, the third time is when you should press A.  ~ Slyshi
Sunday Drivers
Throw Me a Bone
  • The arrow will always start directly in front of and then randomly turn left or right. If you want to go straight, you should mash A before the arrow even appears. At the start of the minigame, press A quickly after the arrow appears to get a quick start and be in a good position.  ~ P-Merks

1 vs. 3 Minigames (11)

Cash Flow
  • As the team, pull back the joystick if you want to move far to a certain direction.  ~ Spongyoshi
Sink or Swim
  • Team: Whenever the solo player is not chasing you, you should always be at the top to conserve as much air as possible. As soon as the solo players starts walking towards you, dive down to make sure you have enough time to react to their throws and so you won’t just get knocked out quickly at the top.  ~ P-Merks
  • Solo: Try to corner members of the three by constantly dropping balls while slowly walking them into a corner. This will either make them run out of air or cause them to take risky movements to attempt to go in-between multiple balls.  ~ P-Merks
Snow Brawl
  • Practice throwing snowballs at more acute angles relative to the horizontal line. This will give you more edge. When playing against human players, you can also position yourself within these angles since most human players have trouble aiming at such angle. Note that this does not work on CPU controlled players.  ~ Slowcast
Ball Dozers
  • Team: Plan your route together and have two players go down to start breaking the blocks near the bottom and have one player stay back to make sure the ball keeps moving.  ~ P-Merks
  • Solo: Try and break a few blocks below the ball before breaking the blocks right next to the ball. This will help guide the ball in the direction you and help you avoid hitting more blocks than you need to.  ~ P-Merks
Surge and Destroy
  • As the solo player, the unusual controls can be circumvented by simply moving both sticks in unison.  ~ piguy314159
Pop Star
Stage Fright
  • Team: The player in the front should always be spamming shots since they can’t hit any teammates. The other two players should be constantly shooting when no one else on their team is in front of them.  ~ P-Merks
  • Solo: It is very difficult to win. Do your best to only make slight movements to dodge, since if you move too much it can be easy to accidentally run into a ball from the side.  ~ P-Merks
Conveyor Bolt
Crate and Peril
Ray of Fright
  • Solo Player: The beam can bend up to 4 times! Try to hit it in walls rather than corners to make narrower triangles which are almost impossible to dodge!  ~ BirdoGlam
  • Team: It’s EXTREMELY difficult to win as the angles can bend up to 4 times, try to be in the center of the triangles form and react fast to the bends!  ~ BirdoGlam
Dust ’til Dawn

2 vs. 2 Minigames (12)

Garden Grab
  • There is no penalty for pressing the wrong button during the first part of this minigame! Just press all the buttons on your controller to completely bypass reacting and get to the mashing portion very quickly.  ~ P-Merks
Pixel Perfect
  • Divide the field based on your spawn positions. The player on the left should cover the left two columns and the player on the right should cover the right two columns. If you finish your side earlier than your teammate, go over to assist them but be sure you’re not going for the same square as them since ground pounding each other will lose you both a lot of time.  ~ P-Merks
Slot Trot
  • Make sure your border is glowing before you stand still, it can look like you’re in the right position but if your border isn’t glowing it won’t count. To slow down and stop the spinner more quickly, start pressing the opposite button when you get close to your target.  ~ P-Merks
Gondola Glide
  • As you’re very close to a gate, stop mashing any buttons and wait to pass through to start mashing the next one. Pressing the wrong button will slow you down much more than not pressing any buttons for a split second.  ~ P-Merks
Light Breeze
  • I usually put my controller in between my legs to hold it and use both of my index fingers to mash L and R faster. Make sure you aren’t accidently pressing the buttons at the same time otherwise you will go much slower.  ~ P-Merks
Body Builder
  • Press A when the cursor is almost halfway into the lit up tile you want. ~ P-Merks
Mole-It!
  • At night, when you are waiting for moles to come, stand in between two pipes instead of on top of one so you are in a better position for when the come. Running into a mole without ground pounding it will cause it to go back into the pipe without giving you a point, so only walk when you absolutely have to.  ~ P-Merks
Cashapult
  • Work from one side to the other instead of randomly moving across the whole play area. If a coin is a bit further away then just gently move your stick towards it instead of making a full push. Keep it close to where you are swung from the catapult so that getting the second batch isn’t as tedious.  ~ Slyshi
Jump the Gun
  • The person with the Bullet Bill Launcher should only hit targets that are about 2 or 3 targets away from the last one. Keep Bullet Bills close going up inclines and keep them further going down inclines.  ~ Slyshi
Rocky Road
  • Kicks are the strongest move!  ~ Spongyoshi
  • Try to pick a different rock than your teammate. If only one rock is remaining, either try to be as far away as possible or have only one player clear up the remaining rock since hitting your opponents costs a LOT of time!  ~ Spongyoshi
Clean Team
  • The sprayer needs to plan out their route right at the start. Start by going to the left, hit the first row. Get all of the spots on the left sides of the buckets and then do the row with no buckets last so you can easily cross over to the right side without wasting time and get the rest of the spots.  ~ P-Merks
Burnstile
  • Stay still for a better chance at survival.  ~ Spongyoshi
  • A short jump can suffice.  ~ Spongyoshi

Battle Minigames (6)

Hyper Sniper
  • Stay around the bottom and aim for any upcoming 100 point targets. If there are none nearby, shoot any other target on sight that isn’t a bowser target.  ~ Spongyoshi
Insectiride
  • The grasshooper is the fastest if you’re fast with input pressing, there’s also no penalty for wrong inputs. Ladybug is the second fastest if you’re a very good spammer. If you have a better reaction time, pick the beetle. Only pick the Snail if you’re confident your opponents aren’t very good at this minigame as it’s easy to master but slow at max speed.  ~ Spongyoshi
Stamp By Me
  • Press for the left when it touches the highlighted square, press for the right when it’s about to go into the center of the highlighted square.  ~ Spongyoshi
  • One conveyor belt will always be moving faster than the other. Prioritize stamping the pages that are coming at you quicker. Often times when a page is coming up on the slow conveyor, two pages will come up on the fast conveyor before the slow one even gets to you.  ~ P-Merks
  • It’s random each time you play whether the left or the right conveyor will be moving faster.  ~ P-Merks
Wrasslin’ Rapids
  • Stay in the middle, the only way to get eliminated is by a falling projectile.  ~ Spongyoshi
Starwberry Shortfuse
  • Try to follow as many monkeys as you can. Try to have at least one or two you are sure they have a cake and ideally a few other backup plans.  ~ Spongyoshi
Control Shtick
  • Beware as it gets faster really quickly after a certain point, be ready to improvise fast as it gets near-impossible!  ~ Spongyoshi

Duel Minigames (15)

Light Up My Night
Cog Jog
  • If you go to the bottom of the first large pink gear, hold directly right and you will be perfectly lined up with the center shortcut. Don’t be discouraged if you start to fall into one of the center stars either, just keep jumping since the collision can be wonky and sometimes you’ll actually be able to jump out and save yourself.  ~ P-Merks
Black Hole Boogie
Full Tilt
  • It is possible to make a few giant shortcuts by jumping over the void from one part of the path to another. CPUs never take these, so you are safe to not attempt them when playing against CPUs. If you are against a human player, you might find yourself wanting to risk it and take these big shortcuts!
Sumo of Doom-o
O-Zone
  • While the arena spins before you jump into it, it actually doesn’t matter as it does a 360° spin meaning all the Xs and Os stay in the same place.  ~ Spongyoshi
Pitifall
Mass Meteor
  • If you and your human opponent make it to the end at the same time, the game may tie, or it may just decide a winner at random. I’m not sure why it sometimes does this.  ~ P-Merks
  • Stay near the front so you can back up if the meteors are blocking your path. After crossing the two last giant meteors, stay on the far-right of the screen.  ~ Spongyoshi
Lunar-tics
  • Hold A until 3.51 seconds are left, then let go; you will land on exactly 0.00. ~piguy314159
T Minus Five
  • On the first panel, wait for it to reach you. On the second panel, wait until the third panel lights up and do a full hop into a ground pound. On the third panel, immediately do a short hop ground pound. On the fourth panel, do a full hop into a ground pound when it reaches the second panel after coming back from the bottom. On the fifth panel, try to time a ground pound as it reaches in between the first and second panels.  ~ Slyshi
Asteroad Rage
  • Stay around the middle for the whole minigame. To avoid the almost impossible line of meteors (you know which one), try to hang on the left side rather than the right.  ~ Spongyoshi
Boo’d Off the Stage
Boonanza!
  • Scoop the Pink Boos in by going to the center and forcing them into the corner and into your goal. Try to steal some of your opponent’s while they’re gathering theirs.  ~ Spongyoshi
Trick or Tree
Something’s Amist
  • When playing against the AI, a great strategy is to walk against them and only let them move gently so you can be the first one to react when you get pushed to the gemstone’s location!  ~ Spongyoshi

DK Minigames (3)

Tally Me Banana
Banana Shake
  • Don’t even bother trying to dodge the hammers if you are having trouble reacting to them since you might accidentally dodge a bunch instead. Just mash A the entire time and hope RNG is on your side.  ~ P-Merks
Pier Factor

Pit Boss
