Yoshi on the roof

You must have at least 120 stars to access the roof of the castle via cannon in the castle grounds. Reaching the roof and you'll find Yoshi who can give you 99 lives!

Spelling error:
When speaking to Yoshi on the castle roof, Yoshi says "Mario!!! It that really you???" instead of "Mario!!! Is that really you???".

And he also gives you a special Triple Jump move.

It's great to see him there as a cameo, though.

But sadly, I couldn't.

A lot of people thought Luigi was going to be in the game, but he never appeared. He was saved for the DS version, though.

I thought it was a neat little cameo, but there really wasn't a point in his gift to you. 99 lives after you have collected all the Stars is kind of like "what the hell, dude".

And here is some information:
After completing Super Mario 64 and earning 120 Power Stars, the grate on the castle grounds that was previously sealed opens to reveal a cannon (located at the sandy area). Firing Mario to the roof of the castle results in talking to Yoshi (on the roof), who will give Mario 100 1-Ups, and an enhanced triple jump. Also up there is a Wing Cap.

In the DS version, this was done away with (since Yoshi is a playable character), but Luigi's final rabbit can be found on the castle roof, as well as a ? Block that contains a Power Flower (or Wing Cap if the player uses Mario). The roof in Super Mario 64 DS features a small fence around the area the three 1-Up mushrooms are found.

It's a shame that there isn't much around the roof, though. When you get the special triple jump move, and when you perform it, you're apparently invincible to anything.

I thought it was a cool idea to add Yoshi in as a cameo..  but I agree with Aegis..  What the heck was the point of Lives and the Triple Jump if you already beat the game?  =P

It was a cool cameo, but his 99 lives gift was really useless being after you 100% the game.

Yeah, unless you died a lot in the last Bowser course. But since I didn't, it was a bit useless.
Hey, but I think it is better than just 3 lives gift in SM64DS  ;D

I could really only have fun on the Special Stages like the Slides or Wing Mario Rainbow after 100%. After that, it's just a borefest lol.
