After doing some reasurch and compairing and contrasting I have noticed the three final fantasy characters in 3 on 3 and Sports Mix aren't actually fully origional designs and that they are actually based off of a character that's not the 8-bit sprite shows next to their names.
Ninja
Ninja is the only one of the three actually based off of his sprite shown next to his name. There are not other Ninja with the same look he has. Other ninjas in the Final Fantasy look more "shinobi".

White Mage
In the Final Fantasy series there is only three notible girls with pink hair. They are Lenna, Lightning, and Sarah. Lightning and Sarah look nothing like White Mage did in Sports Mix/ 3 on 3 and I think their game was released after 3 on 3. So that leaves one girl who could have a chance to be the base for the White Mage in 3 on 3/ Sports Mix. That would Be Lenna.

You may be thinking "they look nothing alike!". You would be wrong! In FF5 the characters could change jobs during the game and White Mage was one of them. When Lenna is changed into the White Mage job the simmilarities in uncanny.
Also to note, Lenna is a princess and it would be assumed that she would wear a crown/ tiara right? Well 3 on 3/ Sports Mix WHite Mage also wears a tiara and not to mention has Lenna's same eye color as well.

Black Mage
Black Mage is an odd one. Black Mage looks like it was based off of two possible candidates, one isn't even a Black Mage.
The first is Vivi from FF9 and the ther is a Magus from FF3. Both are rather short so Black Mage in Sports Mix/ 3 on 3 got streatched out.
Though I'm sure no one cares....
