This. Is. BS!

My DSi currently turns itself off when I turn it on, and the battery is not dead. What should I do?

On Friday, the R button on my DS stopped responding. I read this topic on GameFAQs and I tried that method. It worked, but the DS would turn off by itself. The DS stopped turning off by itself yesterday, but it's R button stopped working today. I tried Friday's trick, and it turns off by itself once I turn it on again. And no, the battery is not dead.

lol no. You people don't understand anything about electronic hardware. First off, quit with the water. You probably damaged your DS already by trying to water it. It's probably not that battery's fault. I don't think you have seen the inside of a button before. It's probably worn-out or dirty in the inside. The only way to find out is open it. I've opened a lot of game controllers before to repair buttons. Most cases it's dirty or worn out hardware that I had to put back in position or clean with compressed air.
As for the random shut-downs, it's likely been caused by the water. It probably came in contact with a chip, a crucial part of the button, or the motherboard on the system and created a faulty malfunctioning electrolytic capacitor or transistor. Water doesn't mix with the electric field. Stop hurting your DS.

You NEVER EVER put electronics near water
NO MATTER WHAT
That's pretty common sense sorry SMYM

Its ok. Its an excuse to get a new one. I still have my first fat grey DS and the R-Button is just stuck. The screen is about to fall off because one of the screen flippy things broke. If you can handle the wait I say wait for a 3DS XL.

Nobody in this world have money to buy things like that lol
If you do, you are lucky in this recession
Excuse my language but no one is made out of money nor have money like that
We do not shit out money
We use money to wipe our asses
Excuse the language but this is what I always say

Fine, I'll stop using water. It's just that it worked for me, and the loss of the R button means that it's harder to do backflips and stuff in Super Mario 64 DS, which saved my ass on some stars. Also, Luigi's backflip is the only reason I use him over Yoshi in that game.

I'm getting a 3DS as my replcement if my DS still doesn't turn on. I would use a blowdryer, but I don't think that's a good idea.

That's too hot to be using on your 3DS; Never expose the DS to heat either because that can also break your DS. Keep water and heat AWAY from the DS. Those two things should never be used for things like DS's. Kingboo is right on the compressed air, it's much better.

Anyway, you'd be best to upgrade to a 3DS to save yourself the trouble over your worn DS.

BTW, my original blue DS still works. I've never had a problem with it and I got it refurbished from Nintendo in '06. =P
