Snowman's Land

The tenth course of Super Mario 64 and its remake Super Mario 64 DS. It is the second snow-based level in the game after Cool, Cool Mountain. It features Mr. Blizzards that throws snowballs at the player, causing him/her to take damage. The freezing pond if the player is swimming in it will cause their power meter to decrease rapidly and will not recover automatically. There is an igloo in the stage. There is a Giant Mr. Blizzard on the center of the map. When the player reaches the ice bridge, the large snowman comes to life and says that something's (the player's) climbing is bothering him (wondering if it is a snow ant or an ice flea). He then start blowing out of his mouth to try and blow the "pest" away. The player will be blown off the ice bridge if he steps in front of the continuous breeze and also lose his hat (except if the player is just Yoshi in the DS version). The way to get past is to use the penguin walking back and forth on the bridge to block the wind. The penguin, however, walks across, then stops and even walks back a few steps on its way across. The player can also activate the cannons and carefully shoot up so he lands on the far left side of the ice in front of the snowman's head. Once the player reaches the other side, the player should continue climbing the mountain, and Mario will reach the Power Star. In the Nintendo 64 version, Mario can ride on the penguin's head to avoid the wind. However, this isn't possible in the DS version. However, in the DS version, Luigi can perform a backward somersault to spin in midair, and float to the other end of the road, while avoiding the wind.

Super Mario 64 - Into the Igloo

To access this course, Mario (or Luigi, Yoshi, or Wario in the DS version) will have to acquire the second of the castle's keys, and go to the floor directly above the lobby. Inside the mirror room, there will be a blank wall to Mario's left but if he were to look at the wall as it appears in the mirror, it will show the picture from the level Cool, Cool Mountain Mario should jump inside, and he will reach Snowman's Land. It is also possible to grab infinite coins, as going in and out of the igloo creates more enemies inside the igloo all over again.

I ADORED this level. It reminded me of Banjo-Kazooie's Freezezzy Peak because of the aspect of climbing up a platform-riddled snowman structure. A lot of fun!

Also loved the igloo missions.

I was thinking of the same thing too.

I liked climbing up the snowman to get the star. Everytime, though, I would be behind the penguin (not perfectly) and screw up on the stopping and then get blown away. :p Other than that, I enjoyed the level, also loved shoving that Bob-Omb-shaped enemy into the water (don't know the name :p). Those were my favorite enemies to kill.

Here's a tip; Ride on the penguin's head when trying to climb to the mountain! Does that help? The enemy that you shoved into the frostbite pond was the Chilly Bully. I also like navigating the Ice Block maze, which is hard, but I had to get to the top of it to get the Power Star by falling into a pit.

Too bad riding the penguin's head doesn't work in the DS version.

It's pathetic when they removed the element about that. "Stupid Nintendo!"; other gamers would say. But Luigi, can easily get the Power Star without getting blown away by doing a backward somersault! The cannon can also work.

The igloo was the best! I remember it being a pain to get into sometimes, but for some reason, it was always worth it to go inside. :p

The rest of the level was alright.
Oh yeah? It was different in the DS version. It was a glass ice maze in the N64 version (as I navigated a few days ago to get my 100th Power Star) and I didn't find any freezing water unlike the DS version. Also there were two stars in the DS version, as the N64 version only had one.
