Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

Anyone own this game?  If so, which Skylanders do you have?  Anything in particular you like about it?  Anything you dislike?  It's a little expensive for some people's tastes, but I like the game.

I currently own 16 Skylanders: Spyro, Gill Grunt, Trigger Happy, Chop Chop, Eruptor, Terrafin, Stealth Elf, Stump Smash, Ghost Roaster, Whirlwind, Sonic Boom, Dino Rang, Wrecking Ball, Double Trouble, Drill Sergeant, and Drobot.

As for what I like, each character is unique and appealing, the game is cross-platform (playable on Wii, 3DS, Xbox360, PS3, and the internet), and recognizable voice actors Patrick Warburton and Richard Steven Horvitz.  You might know Warburton as Kronk from the "Emperor's New Groove" series, Joe Swanson from "Family Guy" or that guy from the Honda commercials around Christmas.  Richard Steven Horvitz you'd probably recognize as Zim from "Invader Zim" or Billy from "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy".

If there's anything I don't like about it, the game is slightly too childish.  But it's not aimed at the 19-year-old-boy market, so I accept that.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, Google is your friend.

I'm pretty sure it's the unexpected best-seller of the 2011 holiday season.  It's wildly popular.

Note: The game is not actually about Spyro, but about the Skylanders as a whole.  This game is also pretty much impossible to rent because it requires hardware that comes with the game when you buy it.  If you want to play through everything the game has to offer, you need to shell out some $$$.  There are 32 Skylanders in total and you start with 3+the game for $70 new.  The rest of the Skylanders you have to buy at $8 individually or $20 for three.

My opinion:  Yes, it costs a lot, but it's like paying for DLC in physical form.  Plenty of things to do in-game and online.

A sequel is planned to be released later this year.

I played for maybe 20 minutes since SS17 wanted me to demo it. The game is pretty cool, but yeah, $$$ has to be drained in it in order to have the full experience. It is childish, but I think that the technology used in this game kinda balances it out. As you said earlier, it might be too late to get all the Skylanders since the exclusives are already sold-out in stores. Still, the game is worth a try.

I do have the game too and I really enjoy it, it's really impressive with the Portal of Power and the figurines, I would like to collect a lot. Anyways, that doesn't matter me if it's childish or not, if I like it, I just like it, I still have my kid heart and I will keep it because I don't plan to change that much. But I only have the three first at the moment, well Spyro, Trigger Happy and Gill Grunt, but I would be happy to get more. That's about it.

>Game that just flat-out killed the Spyro series

No thanks.

Toys for Bob was given the opportunity to revive a Vivendi franchise, and they chose the Spyro the Dragon franchise. Paul Reiche III noted: "attempts to revive broad-audience mascot franchises haven't seen predictable success in the game industry. Just creating a new Spyro game after the traditional fashion was unlikely to work"

Someone needs to punch this guy in the dick.

I don't think the game killed the Spyro franchise at all seeing as it wasn't really about Spyro.  I also don't agree with Paul Reiche III that a new Spyro in the old style is unlikely to work.  Spyro was popular on the PS1 and kept releasing titles in the sixth gen (most, if not, all on NGC).  And then even on PS3/Wii.  Skylanders wasn't even a revival, more like a spin-off.

This game is pretty good.  It is actually so popular that the figures go in MINUTES!!!!!!  One store (I believe Best Buy) is so backed up, the preorders are going into fall!  No exaggeration here...  I own 25 Skylanders  and have completed 5 of the 8 elements.
I have: Spyro, Gill Grunt, Trigger Happy, Whirlwind, Stealth Elf, Drill Sergent, Terrafin, Eruptor, Chop Chop, Bash, Zap, Hex, Dino Rang, Prism Break (favorite), Boomer, Voodood, Ghost Roaster, Drobot, Flameslinger, Stump Smash, Sonic Boom, Double Trouble, Slam Bam, Wrecking Ball, and Cynder!

P.S.  I got all of these for the original, Non-inflated price of 7.99 or (for the Adventure Packs) 19.99! 8)

The game has plenty of acchivements and a decent story to keep gameplay and replay value up. PvP is really fun and it really lets me hone my skills. Hopefully Giants will have online PvP
Currently have all Skylanders not including gold, silver, and glow in the dark variants.
Magic: Spyro, Legendary Spyro, Dark Spyro, Wrecking Ball, Double Trouble, Voodood
Fire: Eruptor, Flameslinger, Sunburn, Ignitor
Tech: Trigger Happy, Legendary Trigger Happy, Drobot, Drill Sergeant, Boomer
Water: Gill Grunt, Zap, Slam Bam, Wham-Shell

Lol i know.

prism break is my favourite to!

It's probably not like Spyro for some, I know... but I think it's really fun... through that it's not only of Spyro, there are some Skylanders that exist (a total of 37, so yeah, this is not only of Spyro... and I'm not sure at all if this game is really that much based of Spyro only. But it's probably the game that I got the most interest... And some of these Skylanders also became some of my favorites. (I can easily name Trigger Happy...) The game is also multiplayer and it's another kind of story, not the same as the normal Spyro games...  Also, all the things that we can do with the game is interesting... The game, the website... and I can name more...
