Shows that started out good but got suckier as it went on

The Office has definitely gone downhill since it started. First season wasn't great, but 2-5 were hilarious. This last season (7) has just been mediocre. And the show will just get worse after Steve Carrell leaves. It's still better than 75% of what's on TV, but its not up to what it once was.

Any confirmation of Ricky Gervais being the new boss of The Office (he was the original boss from the UK version)? I heard it was either him or Will Ferrel who would replace Carell. (I'd rather have Gervais in since I liked the original UK show and Ferrel has just been unfunny as of late)

I'll admit, I liked the first season episode where they played Basketball against the warehouse guys. Michael missing every shot and Dwight just stealing the ball from teammates and sinking them in was hilarious to watch. :p

But yeah, I didn't like Season 2 that much, but 3-5 were great. 6 was shaky, and I absolutely want to erase 7 from my memory.

Every show?

Seinfeld did the opposite.

Started terribly, then ended up being a classic.
That's one show, any more? :p

Star Trek.

TOS had such cheesy acting, lame props/sets, and a terrible budget/reception yet it spun off 5 other spin-off series, 12 movies, and even had a space shuttle named after the USS Enterprise.

I have no idea, I haven't really been following this season or any news on the show. Gervais would probably be funnier, but I feel like it might be a bad move to put him on the show. I can't see Will Ferrel being cast either though. But I can't really think of any way for them to deal with Carrell leaving. Michael's character was a big part of what made the show funnier (the fact that he was so incompetent and out of touch). Losing that kind of character will leave a big hole in the show but replacing him with another character that has the same personality would feel wrong.

I think the show is at the end of its run, personally. At least Parks & Rec has gotten really funny so there will still be one great comedy left on NBC.

Kind of like how House put a whole new cast to the show starting in Season 4. The ratings started to fall drastically ever since it's premiere.

I don't watch House, but sure =P

That reminds me of Law & Order Criminal Intent though. It was never a favorite show of mine (SVU FTW) but I'd watch it occasionally. Vincent D'Onofrio made that show. Then they replaced him with Jeff Goldblum plus the other lead detective left too & the show sucked. I guess now they're bringing D'Onofrio & Kathryn Erbe back for the last season though, which is good I guess.
