Shifting Sand Land

The eighth course of Super Mario 64 and it's re-make, Super Mario 64 DS. Four Pillars stick out of the ground at different points in the level. Three of these pillars can be reached via sand, while the other one is surrounded by quicksand and must be reached with the Wing Cap. The most prominent feature of the level is the great pyramid in the center. Three Power Stars are found inside the pyramid. One of these is in the possession of Eyerok, an ancient spirit which lives inside the pyramid. Eyerok serves as the boss of the level. Other notable locations include a small oasis (consisting of a palm tree, a small pool of water, and one Red Coin) located in the corner of the stage. There is also a maze path which rests on top of quicksand and is traveled on by rolling Tox Boxes. This maze is one of a few ways to traverse from the east to the west side of the level. The level also features the first appearance of Klepto the vulture, (in the Nintendo 64 version this was Klepto's only appearance, although the DS version had him in multiple levels).

Stars:
Star 1: In the Talons of the Big Bird
Star 2: Shining Atop the Pyramid
Star 3: Inside the Ancient Pyramid
Star 4: Stand Tall On the Four Pillars
Star 5: Free Flying For 8 Red Coins (N64, Star 7 in DS version)
Star 5: Tox Box Switch Star (DS)
    Star 6: Pyramid Puzzle
Star 8: Collect 100 Coins (not in star selection screen, Star 7 in N64 version)

It can be found in the basement of the castle, although the entrance to it is disguised as a wall instead of a portrait. This level is called the Shifting Sand Land due to the fact that much of its ground terrain appears to be a type of quicksand. This course is the first one to have its entrance disguised as a wall; it is followed by Snowman's Land. To access this, defeat Bowser and get the key to the castle's basement from Bowser in the Dark World.

I thought this stage was fun and exciting. It was divided into neat little sections (Tox Box Area, Pyramid, Oasis) and had some fun Stars to collect, like scaling the pyramid and falling into the lair of Eyerok.

Navigation around this world can be tricky. Standing tall on four pillars was not easy, especially the one surrounded by quicksand. My favorite area is the small lake with the nearby palm tree. I also love to explore the pyramid, too. I remember playing this world one early morning before I moved.
I have a hint for the DS version. When trying to collect the Power Star "Tox Box Switch Star", do not use the cannon, because you will fall into the quicksand and can waste valuable time to the player. THERE IS, a teleporting area that can directly take you to the Star Sphere.

I want to see who can beat Eyerok as Yoshi in DS. As a brick block is required to access Eyerok's chamber, you can use caps.
I've done that before. It's a bit harder to defeat the boss as Yoshi, but still easy nonetheless. Just because Yoshi is weak in power, doesn't mean he can be stopped from collecting a few stars he wouldn't be able to normally get.

Well, did you use a cap only for accessing the chamber? You have to do the boss fight as Yoshi.

Of course I did. I broke the block with the cap on, then took it off, then went back in as Yoshi. Simple. The boss fight as Yoshi wasn't even hard, despite Yoshi's weakness in power, as I stated earlier. Yoshi can still perform some attacks using his shoes/feet like everyone else on Eyerok.
