I've never seen a PSA that has been effective, imo. I mean I guess I was never tempted to smoke crack or anything, but I feel like if I was none of them would dissuade me. The only one that *kind* of did was one I remember with 2 parents talking about their daughter & how she died from taking E once.

But all those "above the influence" and "my anti-drug" ones just seemed silly to me. And I found it ironic how some of them, talking about how peer pressure was so terrible, actually used peer pressure as a device to say why you shouldn't do drugs.

I also think its ridiculous how 75% of the ones you see on TV are for pot, 15% are for alcohol and the rest are for harder drugs. Pot is the least harmful controlled substance out there, they should be focusing on keeping kids away from crystal meth and other drugs that can easily ruin someone's life.
 
Kids usually ZZZZZZ on these kinds of anti-drug acts anyways. Which is ironic considering television influences kids the most. Like how to act like a swearing douchebag from Jersey Shore.

I find these PSA's to be pointless. "Hardcore" Drugs have been around since the beginning of civilization, so doubt they are gonna be controlled anytime soon.
 
PSAs really seem to only be effective when it comes to giving people new knowledge, teaching them something. So drug PSAs don't seem like they'd work too well because most kids over 8 have heard the drug spiel. Programs like DARE are probably way more effective as far as anti-drug stuff goes.

DARE made me avoid drugs and probably was one of
the reasons why I developed OCD.
