Bill said Action-Adventure instead of RPG. Uh oh.

Pros:
- Concept looks nice
- There's a thing in Prism Island that shows you have to collect 6 different colored stars(one is seen at 0:40)
- It looks nice
- The Shy Guys have color-sucking straws, which ties in with colors being drained
- Map reminds me of Thousand-Year Door's map
Cons:
- Toads seem to be the only NPCs
- That paintbucket character reminds me of Kersti
- Cards seem to replace Stickers? They seem to be found in blocks and in nooks and crannies.
- World Map
- Bowser tape is seen (0:06), meaning he's probably the villain again(meaning rainbow bowser lmao)

There's also this paint meter, but I'm not sure what it does. Even though I really wish they returned to the the old format, this still looks fun.

The art style is definitely one of the few good things of this game so far. Prism Island looks well designed, I'll give it that too. The gimmick wouldn't be a problem, if it wasn't for the fact that most features that made the original two Paper Mario games and SPM, are now gone. Another thing I get from what was shown is, even though Prism Island looks great, it seems really boring, there doesn't seem to be many characters other than Toads. Mushroom Kingdom and Rogueport (and the one from SPM, have a blank here) were more lively, had an amazing variety of characters and facilities. The places actually seemed like it could be a real city. Prism Island looks good just in looks.

With that said, yes I am disappointed, as I loved the first two games and still respect SPM, but this is just the first day. Maybe I'll be surprised? I hope, I'll try to be positive, but my expectations are extremely low.

It looks really good! But the gameplay seems SS-y...

Ok, from what I see, there are only 5 worlds to explore on the world map, like in SS. (And most likely the final area is hidden until the end). 6 "chapters" again.
And the card system, although really similar to the sticker system, seems to add something. Namely the RBY colors. Seems like, in a way, those will be the "Flower Points" of this game, except that you'll need it for every attack instead of the special ones only. (Special ones might consume a good chunk of it)
And that living bucket seems kinda generic to be the "Starlow" or "Kersti" of PMCS. Partners? (Speculation. Maybe not...)

I can excuse the gameplay. While I prefer the gameplay of the first two games, I still found Sticker Star to be a fun game, including its battle system.

What I can't excuse is the lack of story and the missing unique characters. This is what I attributed Paper Mario with and SS and (seemingly) this is definitely lacking this.
^ I feel like recently most games have been incredibly lacking in personality, like Ultra Smash and Mario Party 10.And it's not just Mario, we have Amiibo Festival and Federation Force. I honestly want to know the reasoning behind Color Splash's lack of personality and charm that made the first 3 so memorable.

Another problem I don't think a lot of people mentioned is that the coloring mechanic feels so tacked on. Heck, the stickers in SS were an actually concept to where it was creative, you could not have Sticker Star without stickers. Go to Color Splash, and you just paint things without no real purpose besides restoring the color. Making the house open with your hammer could have easily replaced with a button to open the door. Either that or I hate the coloring mechanic, I've played enough Splatoon to where I don't think I need another game about colors on my Wii U.

I can accept the fact that Nintendo is trying to push the series into its own thing, now that Mario & Luigi has kind of taken the role as the "serious" RPG counterpart. What I don't get though is why Nintendo STILL insists on having basic RPG elements within the games. It just makes fans want the feel of the first 2 games even more. When I played Sticker Star, I was so dumbfounded as to the point of battling monsters when you can obtain stickers through other additional means. There was no leveling up, as long as you knew the sticker's effects and planned out your attack then you could easily beat the game without having brain cells.

If Nintendo was smart they would turn the series into more of a Super Paper Mario esque series. Now, I didn't like Super Paper Mario because I felt the gameplay was a turn off from the rest of the series, but if it was a stand-alone Mario game I would've been amazed by its dark storyline, creative characters, and 2D/3D gimmick. The only thing that turned me off was the gameplay because I wanted another RPG experience. Mario & Luigi though IS the RPG experience now, so why should I expect anything else with Paper Mario? Obviously Nintendo wants to switch directions with it, but to me I feel like not making it a platformer and having engaging characters and storylines is stupid.

Given how hard I laughed during Color Splash's showing at E3, I believe in even more optimism. I can't get enough of the multidimensionality, music, environments, and how it switches back and forth from serious surrealist noir to a laugh-fest for the whole family. There's even more Luigi this time and environmental elements to keep you engaged, which makes it official: I give Paper Mario: Color Splash a Luigidenne rating of "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"

I laughed when Risa said that the game will probably make you cry. They got rid of diverse characters with depth like Vivian and Bobbery, and nothing will ever top Super Paper Mario's ending. I also just don't know about the whole World Map and change environment things. It never felt satisfying. If Huey tells me I need to go find an object in another level, it'll be like going back for a Star Coin. And the environmental things you need to change feel tacked on. It made sense in Sticker Star cuz it was about sticking things together. I think I'd have more less fun in battle then I did in SS, those were more fun than what I think the card system will be.

Alright, who got the game?

I've had it for the last two weeks and I love it. Humor is top notch, graphics are gorgeous, music is beautiful. I'm even enjoying the characters a lot.

Only negative is that the battle still leaves something to be desired.
Is getting hammer scraps from battle a good exp replacement, giving reason to battle?
