Nintendo Responds to 3DS Black Screen Error

We've heard numerous reports from users suffering a black screen error on their shiny new 3DS consoles that halts any game mid-flow, causing a hard reset. Nintendo has now released a statement on the matter, though it doesn't go into much more detail than the advice displayed on-screen.

If anyone is experiencing any problems with their Nintendo 3DS console, we recommend that in the first instance they download and install the latest system update, now available online.

If the problems still persist we recommend they contact their local Nintendo Customer Service centre to investigate the problem further.

Sounds pretty bad, especially since they put a hefty price tag on it. Has anybody here experienced it? I don't have one yet, but I might wait until they update it or make a new batch of them.

I will, but I can't connect it to the internet yet. In fact, tried to connect the day I got it, but nope, didn't work yet.

If you have Wi-Fi at home it should work. Don't know why ti wouldn't VIP.  :-\

I do for Wii, but not DS nor 3DS. However, I should be able to after adjusting some settings yoshi15 PMed me about it. I'm going to try to get it to work next week.

DS could only use Wi-Fi with WEP security or open. 3DS is compatible with WPA and WPA2 if you know about internet security. :/ Hope  your setting it up goes well with Yoshi15's instructions.

Never happened to me. My guess is that it's not the 3DS, it's the people going blind.  :

It didn't happen to me and besides, I updated my 3DS as soon as I got home.
