Nintendo has also bought a 10% stake in DeNA, and DeNA have bought a 1.24% stake in Nintendo.

They also confirmed they're working on the "NX" a new "dedicated" console.
They said in Fall 2015, a new membership program through DeNA and Nintendo will replace Club Nintendo.

DeNA also now has the license to publish any Nintendo IP on Mobile Devices.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7974) and DeNA Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 2432) today entered into a business and capital alliance to develop and operate new game apps for smart devices and build a new multi-device membership service for consumers worldwide.
Leveraging the strength of Nintendo's intellectual property (IP) and game development skills in combination with DeNA's world-class expertise in mobile games, both companies will develop and operate new game apps based on Nintendo's IP, including its iconic game characters, for smart devices. The alliance is intended to complement Nintendo's dedicated video game systems business and extend Nintendo's reach into the vast market of smart device users worldwide. Under the alliance, DeNA will also be able to strengthen its gaming business at a global scale by leveraging Nintendo's IP. To ensure the quality of game experience that consumers expect from this alliance of Nintendo and DeNA, only new original games optimized for smart device functionality will be created, rather than porting games created specifically for the Wii U home console or the Nintendo 3DS portable system.
In order to create completely new game experiences for smart devices, all Nintendo IP will be eligible for development and exploration by the alliance. As these consumers enjoy the unique kind of gameplay found only with Nintendo, they will have the opportunity to explore even more premium experiences on Nintendo's dedicated video game platforms. Information on upcoming games and availability will be forthcoming.
Nintendo and DeNA also plan to develop an online membership service that is accessible from smart devices, PC and Nintendo systems, such as the Nintendo 3DS portable system and the Wii U home console. The membership service, which is targeted to launch in the fall of 2015, will be built on DeNA's extensive experience and capabilities in online membership services.
As part of the long-term relationship and commitment by each company, Nintendo and DeNA have also agreed to form a capital alliance. Under the capital alliance, Nintendo will acquire 15,081,000 of DeNA's treasury shares, which corresponds to 10.00 percent of its total outstanding stock, for a total of approximately 22 billion yen. DeNA will simultaneously acquire 1,759,400 of Nintendo's treasury shares, which corresponds to 1.24 percent of its outstanding stock, for a total of approximately 22 billion yen. The payment is due April 2, 2015.

I really hope they don't go too far.
I don't want to see Mario or Link becoming the King of the App Store.

It could be a good thing, or a bad thing. But I think it will be a good thing. So there will be games on smartphones, like Mario, Link, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong, etc., but they probably won't be large games that you would fully experience on handhelds and consoles. It's still in the early stages, as this is only just announced. We'll have to see how this pans out.

There will be the games on the smartphones, starting in Autumn (Fall) 2015 (Spring 2015 for those down under).

Aside from the fact that this eliminates Nintendo's long-standing practice of making "console-only" games, this seems like a pretty good idea from an economic standpoint. Whether or not it will work in the long run will probably depend on the execution, but I think considering that smartphone and tablet apps are (and have been) a mainstay in the gaming world, and considering Nintendo's decreasing profits from their current situation of sticking to the Wii U and 3DS to release games, this might just be one thing Nintendo needs right now.

Uhhh I'm not so sure how I feel about them teaming up to be honest. I'm sure it'll be really cool since their already making a new console together (on an unrelated note, what's that Red Wii in that picture, I never saw that one before) but maybe it'll be like Sonic Boom and stink in the end XP but Ya never know, I'm gonna be optimistic and say this will be cool and good :-D

It's a Wii Mini. It's just like a Wii, but with no online capabilities and no GCN support. The way you set that system up and how you insert/take out discs functions the same way as the GameCube.

Nintendo needs to get into the smartphone and PC markets. Everyone has one of those things and they'll only be expanding their brand further.

This isn't going to kill Nintendo or anything.
In fact, it might even help them a lot more. Not everyone has the time or money to buy a new console every 5 years or so. Though, a lot more people own a smartphone these days.

That's the point. People are more likely going to buy a smartphone over a gaming console because a smartphone is a more viable investment.

And honestly, I'd take a new Mario concept on a smartphone over another New Super Mario Bros 3 Remake WiiU3DS.
