Good: Multiplayer is fun, Good range of levels, Catchy soundtrack, High replay value in multiplayer
Bad: Wii remote shaking is annoying, Replay value lost in single player after completed
Since I heard about this game, I've been waiting for it with much anticipation. Now that it's out, I'm very impressed with the game. The gameplay is great and never gets old. The new mulitplayer is a great addition and very fun to play, if somewhat frustrating.
Gameplay = 9/10
Great gameplay. Each level is unique and has something that makes it fun. For example: spinning land, bubbles, wind, parts that a player can control, even a rollercoaster made out of bones! The levels do get more challenging further in the game, which is great. Rescuing Toad is a great new feature which provides more challenge, athough having to hold 1 to carry him can hurt my finger after a while. I really like the Super Guide feature, which allows Luigi to automatically do the level for you. This is great because it lets players skip past a hard level so they can play more of the game. Even better, its optional, so you don't have to use it. The most important new feature of NSMBW is the mulitplayer ability. Now up to 4 players can play a level together, which can also aid you on the single player game. This is great fun, which can have you and your friends screaming at the TV with big laughs. I also really like Coin Battle, because it allows for some serious competitiveness which I really enjoy. Although, multiplayer can get frustrating, with players jumping on each other, usually accidentally. Sometimes players can run so fast that the other players get dragged by the edge of the camera, which is really unhelpful.
Graphics and Presentation = 10/10
Everything looks great. The objects look very 3D, and the backgrounds look very detailed and realistic.
Soundtrack = 10/10
Every tune is catchy and sounds great. I absolutely love the soundtrack to this game. I also like the way the enemies dance to the music!!!
Controls = 6/10
Most of the controls work fine, although I'm not happy with the remote shaking that we have to use at some point. It can get annoying, and worse, its so sensitive. Once, I hardly moved and I ended up flying upwards into a fireball. And the grab control is just as bad, having to hold down 1 and shake the remote. It doesn't always work.
OVERALL = 9/10
A few problems here and there, but not enough to make this game bad. New Super Mario Bros Wii is a load of fun and the best platformer I've ever played.
