Midnight Purple 3DS

While this is only a rumor, someone from GameFAQs has claimed to notice a listing for the Midnight Purple 3DS, another color for the Nintendo 3DS. Rumor also has it that it would be coming to North America on Sunday, May 20, 2012, the same day as Mario Tennis Open is out in North America, as well.

Glad to see another color coming if the rumor is true, but I'm not a fan of Midnight Purple. Sticking with Aqua Blue.

Hot color though for sure, but Cosmos shall stay mine XP

But to be fair, this diversification of colors is getting a little overdone if I may say so. The colors for sure increase individuality of gamers but...

Probably because they want more money off from you. There's always the system transfer, though.

Or because they don't have the resources for it/no need to make it.

Typically when you release a system, you don't put out 10 different variants of it.

Another source has the Midnight Purple 3DS listed, as well. However, it's still a rumor, and even with more retailers listing it, it may come out true, but there's yet to be any confirmation from Nintendo.

I'd really like it if they came out with a yellow one, but that would look kind of strange...

That is a very nice colour but I don't like the way all 3ds' have black screens at the top and a different colour at the bottom. Thank god for my Zelda 3DS which looks awesome, and is all black but with with a gold trim. (I'm not bragging... much )

All systems will always be black on the upper part so you can actually see the 3D effect.

It's always black, so you can use/view the 3D effect. It wouldn't be as good if it was other colors.

Surely just by having a colour it doesn't affect the depth of the screen? The only thing I can think of would be because black isn't a colour at all, and reflects no light so it highlights the 3d in the screen. I just can't see why a simple colour would change the 3D effect.
