It was there. It was true. It was epic. It was Madden.
Madden NFL 08 was one of the many Madden games released in the series, and in my opinion was one of the best. It was the last version made for the PC so far, and they really exceeded expectations. As usual, some of the game physics aren't very realistic, but it's very smooth, works like a charm and has easy-to-learn controls.
Let's start with the gameplay. First off, the controls that they have are very nice to deal with. It will sometimes help you with what's going on around you, like showing where the quarterback's range of aiming is, showing which button to press when you want to throw to someone, and what audibles you can call if you think the defense is reading you.They're very simple if you know what to do.
Then there's some other factors, such as the pause menu, which allows you to look at stats, watch replays, challenge calls, call timeouts, decide on strategies and change settings and camera view. You can also quit the game, save it if you want to take a break, and have a look at the new features. For a pause menu, that's a lot!
I give the gameplay a 10/10.
Audio. They have brilliant songs that you can turn off or on that sometimes play after touchdowns, have instrumental and lyric songs and really worked hard on what they used for the soundtrack. 10/10
Commentary: Five words: Madden and Michaels are good. 10/10
Physics: Need to work on. Honestly, have you seen someone go to the ground by someone grabbing air next to them? I don't think so. 8/10
Mini-camp: ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH! IT'S ANNOYING! Yes, I hate it that much. I'm afraid I just couldn't like this. Sorry, EA, but this just wasn't meant to be. 3/10
Other: Meh, I didn't really have much opinion about it. It's ok, just a bit higher than normal. 6/10
Overall, this is a great game, a must-buy for most die-hard football fans, game collectors, maybe for some casual players for random games, but it's not the best it could be. I give it a 7.4/10, mainly because of mini-camp.
