This topic is for all things Kairosoft. If you love pixelated-type games, then you've come to the right place. Kairosoft develop short well-polished games for iOS and Android devices. They often release special offers to tempt you into buying them, which is too hard for some people, including me, to resist. They are currently my favourite game developers for iOS and are known for their crazy miniature characters and wide variety of game genres including racing, restaurant management simulation and even an RPG-style game.
They're most famous for their first game called 'Game Dev Story'. I was recommended this game by a family member in December 2011 and luckily for me, it was on offer. I thought to myself "It looks like a decent game and it's on sale, so why not?" I grabbed hold of my iPod, analyzed the screenshots, reviews and whatnot and downloaded it. Little did I know that this would turn out to be one of the best and most addicting apps that I've had the pleasure of playing.
It's such a unique and original idea; a game about developing games. How cool is that? You're the boss of a game development company as you direct your group of inexperienced designers, artists and coders in order to create many successful, popular games within a 20 year period. You'll participate in game convention booths and awards shows while advertising your company, growing your brand name and trying to please an ever-changing fan base.
As the game progresses, you're able to hire more and experienced employees, whom all can be leveled up and trained and therefore you're able to create even better and more polished games of many genres, reviewed by some some of the harshest judges who expect nothing less than perfection. Keep an eye on your income, though, as the higher skilled your staff are, the higher their salaries will be. You'll have the opportunity to expand your company and even create your own consoles, if your staff are skilled enough.
All of this leads up to one question, do you have what it takes to be the best game developer?
So yeah, there are many different Kairosoft games and Game Dev Story is just one example. Apparently there are still apps in development, so there is still plenty of excitement to come. Have any of you heard of or played a Kairosoft game?
