While I admittedly like Kirby's cute appearance, this point goes to Olimar, because his space suit looks rather cool on him, plus he looks like the comical Mr. Saturn.

Kirby can utilize the Copy Ability to acquire abilities from defeated enemies, as well as float in midair. However, this point goes to Olimar, as he is able to link with the Pikmin and use them for his needs, and is even a master at engineering.

Category 3: Actions

Olimar has managed to rebuild his spaceship, and rescued Louie. Kirby, on the other hand, has restored dreams, prevented Dark Matter from taking over Ripple Star, and stopped the arguably greatest villain in the Kirby series from ruling over the universe.

Category 4: Personality

Even though Kirby's personality of innocence and optimism is something that characterizes him, I'm giving this point to Olimar for his appreciation of nature and his avoidance of obstacles involving money.

Although Kirby's association for food is rather humurous, this point goes to Olimar because of his interest in science, more specifically, biology, although he can be an egoist at times.

Category 6: Motivations

Spoiler

Kirby is motivated by his will to help others, to the point of going out of his way. He will stop at absolutely nothing to fulfill his goal. Olimar, on the other hand, is motivated by his affiliation with the President, making him actually a puppet of authority rather than one own self.

Category 7: Game Quality

This came down to two games: Pikmin 3 and Return to Dream Land. While Pikmin 3 was a great game, I'm giving this to Return to Dream Land for having lots to explore and overall very high replay value.

The conclusion: While Kirby is a good character to have in Nintendo's franchises, I like Olimar better for his interesting traits.

Whaat? How could Kirby lose to anyone? Poor little puffball.

By that, I mean everyone except Lou; I did one of these myself and Luigi edged out 6-4(I had to give out a few ties). Oddly enough, the reverse happened when I tested with Mario.

Appearance: Tie, No explanation needed: Please refer to all definitions of the word "cute" in the dictionary (1-1)
Abilities: Kirby, Both are known for their abilities to reach unusually high places and vacuum-like powers, but Kirby's is incorporated into his very being and he can float (1-2)!
Actions: Tie, Both have saved the universe  and rulers of their retrospective kingdoms multiple times (2-3).
Personality: Luigi, while both are overall bright and optimistic almost all the time, Luigi's complex demeanor is something to take note (3-3)
Style: Luigi, Luigi's meticulous, studious, cautious traits motivate desires for all the little details (4-3).
Motivations: Tie, Both trek through their adventures with the noble desire to help others... most of the time (5-4).
Game Quality: Luigi, Coming down to Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Luigi's Mansion 2, Luigi inches to victory with its humor and heartfelt story (6-4).
In a very close completion, Luigi shyly takes the gold! There is no silver medal however, because Kirby ate it and transformed into Soul Silver Kirby! Luigi cautiously examines him while patting him on the head graciously. Kirby, in return, gives him a big hug. Both of them spend the rest of the day together and get a plush plaque telling them they're my favorite characters of all time.
