At first glance, nothing is too spectacular about Samus, as she would be beaten by Fox if it were for the Power Suit alone. But take a look on the inside though, and the point goes to Samus, because she looks much more attractive.

Category 2: Abilities

Spoiler

Samus can shoot missles, charge shots, drop bombs, and use an electrical ball jump. Fox, on the other hand, is able to shoot with his Blaster, reflect shots, do a fiery slam at the foe, and quickly comet dash across an area.

Category 3: Actions

Spoiler

Samus has saved planets from pirates, radioactivity, and aliens. Fox, on the other hand, has saved an entire solar system from a tyrannical ruler and monsters that operated on a hive mind.

Category 4: Personality

Spoiler

Samus doesn't have a personality to speak of, the only games where she shows one being Other M and Fusion. Fox is loyal to the team, caring for its members, and is determined to get the job done with no hesitation.

Even though Fox has done some stylish moves in his actions (DO A BARREL ROLL!), Samus's actions are just plain awesome to look at.

Category 6: Motivations

Spoiler

Fox is motivated by his care for his friends and the team, and will stop at nothing to help them out. Samus, on the other hand, is a bounty hunter, doing most things because she is hired to do so.

Category 7: Game Quality

Spoiler

This came down to two games: Star Fox 64 and Metroid Prime. While Star Fox 64 was a great game, I'm giving this to Metroid Prime for having so much diversity and tons of exploration and great bosses.

The conclusion: While Samus is a great staple to the Nintendo franchises, Fox gets my attention more due to his traits that make him stand out.
