Bowser breathes fire, strikes opponents with powerful force, and spins his shell to fight. DK's power is primarily in his physical strength, with a hand slap that creates shock waves and a headbutt that drives opponents into the ground.

Bowser has tried and mostly lost battles to kidnap the princess. DK has retrieved his Banana hoard back from the Kremlings and Tikis in his own adventures.

Well, both characters have developed as heroes and villains, but this goes to DK for becoming friends with Mario after being foes in the 8-bit days, and also dedicating his time to stop the Kremlings and Tikis.
