Control Scheme

The title is self-explanatory, What type of controller do you use to play? Wii remote + Nunchuck, Class Controller, Gamecube Controller, Wii Remote held Horizontally?

For me, It's always the gamecube controller because it fit comfortably in my hands and the controller itself has a very good unique design. It's sad that I might not be able to use it for the upcoming smash game but hopefully the transition to the pro controller isn't going to be a hassle.

GameCube controller. But now that I moved my save file to Wii U, I have to use the Wii Remote + Nunchuck. Same situation with Mario Kart Wii.

You should buy one. If it's too expensive for you, wait until you see some deals or price drop on it. I remember seeing the Wii U Pro Controller on sale at Best Buy for $11 or $22 (not sure which).
It was $22 or something like that. I only bought one then, but I wish I bought three more, Mario Kart is less than two months away.  :(

It has been the GCN controller since basically the start. I tried using the Wii remote and I just wasn't comfortable with it in any way. Whether it was with or without the nunchuk, I just never really got the hang of it. So that's why I keep using the GCN controller. Though I guess now things will change right? :p

They do make adapters for GC controllers that make it function as a classic controller, so you can still use a GC controller for Wii and Wii U games on a Wii U obviously. I might get one but iirc they aren't super cheap.

This is ironic, I just order my GCN adapter off amazon for 14.99$ and it should be here on Tuesday.

Also I meant to add this to the question, do anyone change their controls around (I.E remove tap jump or change the L button to grab)?

I leave everything as it is but take off tap jump so I can do U-tilts better. :p

I use GC controller (everything's smoother with the C-Stick, k? :p). Classic Controller is doable for me (I tend to let my brother or his friends use the GC while I use Classic since they aren't so good and we only have 1 functional GC controller), but the GC controller lets me be so much more precise and makes my playstyle flow MUCH more smoothly.

I actually change my control settings around for my name tag; I set L to Specials, Y to Grabs and I disable Tap Jump.

I set L to specials since it's more comfortable using PK Fire with Ness that way and allows me to pull off a technique called the PK Jump, much more comfortably. Also it's easier for me to do an Up Special out of Shield. =P

Setting Y to grabs is so much more comfortable and lets me pivot grab easier. Especially with Yoshi. :p

I disable Tap Jump (I DESPISE it lol) so that I can Up Tilt and angle my shield upwards without jumping (so I don't get shield stabbed if my shield is somewhat low and leaving the top of my character exposed), and it's VERY useful if I play Yoshi; it allows me to throw my Eggs BEFORE using my Double Jump. There's also times where I try to recover with my Up-B, but I get hit out of it (with anyone), and don't have a Double Jump. If I get hit out of it, I'll be able to attempt to Up-B again and then actually use my Double Jump to recover.

I have always used the GCN controller. There's just no other way of playing Smash. You can try to deny it but you're wrong. :p
