Big Boo's Haunt

The fifth course of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The level is bounded by what appears to be the bars of a cage, suggesting, along with his entrance into the level, that the player has shrunk. The background is that of a moonlit night in a dark forest. Big Boo's Haunt is inhabited by none other than Big Boo himself. There is a small shack on the side of the mansion that has a lift to the basement. In the center of the basement is a strange large merry-go-round. There is also the Mad Piano (a piano that comes to life and tries to bite the player if he/she gets too close). Big Boo's Haunt is also home to Big Mr. I. It should also be noted that there is no way to "fall off the course".

Big Boo's Haunt is one of the rare courses that is not accessed via a painting. Instead, the player must travel to the castle's courtyard (after he/she has collected twelve Power Stars, fifteen in the DS remake) and defeat a Big Boo with a cage inside him. The Boo will drop a small cage containing the course. The player shrinks upon entering this cage.

Oh man, the Merry-Go-Round music made me have the chills during my childhood. :p

In the DS version, there is a painting of Luigi, that can lead you to Big Boo Battle, the boss of that secret area is King Boo.

Defeat him to get the key to Luigi, and then, Luigi will be playable.

In addition, there are 2 secret stars.

Star 1: The Boo Painting near the Boss chamber, you must be invisible Luigi to enter it, and you'll get the star.
Star 2: Collect 8 Red Coins. (You'll need Wario to get the 8th one!)

I kinda felt the same way. I didn't know if an enemy was gonna pop out or what, but I made sure that I had full health. The other thing that gave me chills was that piano. That thing scared the crap out of me.

It was an okay world. My favorite part about this world was the search for the red coins; Getting to look all through the mansion was fun. Also, the hidden room was fun to find.

It's too bad Yoshi can't enter this world in Super Mario 64 DS normally, though.

Stole my words.
So I said what you were going to say? :p

Yoshi in this world would have been cool, but it would prove too difficult for him to survive the haunted house with Boos. He can still get into this world through cheating, though, but I wouldn't do it.
