Mario and his friends had entered to a bleak future while riding on a time machine. That future was destroyed by Lavos, and players must get enough stars to defeat it.

Gimmick- Players start at the portal and must take a linear path to the star, where you can buy up to 20 stars for 10 coins each. Then, you walk through Death Peak and walk back to start. There is a shortcut pipe that would take you to Boo.
