10HP Game-Run

Basically, has anyone ever tried to beat the game with only 10HP on both Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door?

Super Paper Mario doesn't count because it is inevitably impossible to beat the game with only 10HP, even if you avoided getting all items and avoided beating any enemies, you'd still have to beat the bosses which give you experience points.

Anyway, I have done a 10HP Game-Run on both Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I must say it was quite difficult beating the Final Bosses on both Paper Mario's, but I managed to do it.

Also, some badges actually help you with the loss of not upgrading your HP at all. Such as ones that increase your defense and attack.

@Kinetic: I suppose you used a lot of badges like Power Rush, Lucky Day and similar that activate on danger/peril?

Sounds interesting, but I'll probably not bother myself =P

I could only imagine having a +10Def badge when in Danger. Near invincibility ftw (stupid Amayzee Dayzees tho ~.~")

I agree with Melvin, I'd go nuts trying to do this. Maybe if I'm bored and have all the time in the world, but I don't expect trying it anytime soon.

This sounds like an idea for a YouTube series of Paper Mario or TTYD. But honestly I've never tried this since I'm not that confident in my own ability to do this with only 10 HP. But if I'm feeling daring I may try it one day.

This, exactly. I like to 100% games first, then try out different challenges.

I believe this is called the Danger Mario Method... I am not thinking about attempting to do thissince it seems very frustrating to be able to die in one hit. You will need loads of BP and I means LOADS to survive and use this method of beating the game sucessfully.

Then again, try imagining clearing the game with only 1HP (permanent Peril). Nigh impossible due to guarding only reducing damage by 1. =P

BP probs is more important than FP in this scenario. Also, you want every attack to count so All or Nothing may not be the best badge to equip...

I actually did this once in TTYD and I managed to get up to 6. Smog is just too difficult for me to get by.

ive played through each game (N64 and TTYD) at least three times, and never attempted this. Honestly, I always heard rumors that it was possible to do but never actually thought that you could beat it with 10 HP. Guess you can haha

This would be hard, but I would like to try it someday. Although I have attempted with 20 or 25 HP on both games. I know that ShadowKirby2007(on youtube) did this for the first paper mario. He got EXTREMELY lucky while fighting Bowser though. He's awesome!

yea im sure luck would have to play a part on final bosses as well.

Well, you just need to be really lucky, mastered the super-guarding, and the right badges you need to equip to succeed with the low amount of HP against the bosses.

yea good points vip. I think id be fine with the super guarding and would have to experiment with some badges so it would probably take me a while to figure out which badges work best

I haven't done this but I have been thinking about it, I may try it but I'm not sure since I'm terrible at blocking attacks lol

I did this, but it was hard, I used BP alot and it came in very handy.

I'll bet it's a lot harder to do this in the first game, due to no superguarding and also that because partners didn't have their own HP, you could not use them as Mario's shield.
