Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV just got a new overview trailer, and we’re breaking down some of the biggest updates found within.

Wondering what Jamboree TV is? You wouldn’t be the first. Super Mario Party Jamboree is finally getting new content! But it’s exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, and it’s not quite the content people are looking for. Rather than add new boards and characters, Nintendo has gone the route of adding new modes and minigames that make use of the new system’s mouse control and camera capabilities. The lack of enthusiasm for the first DLC for in series history has been noticeable, but the new trailer still shows some promising new additions. Let’s dive in!

Nintendo of America released their version of the overview trailer today, so we replaced the Japanese version:

Tag Team Adds More than Just Partners

It’s been a long time since a Mario Party game let you team up with another player in the main mode.

In Tag Team Rules, partner up with another player and share your coins and Stars as you run around the board separately. You’ll start the game by rolling dice blocks, and whichever team rolls the highest combined roll gets to start first. From there, each team will alternate players until everyone has moved during the turn.

This mode gets a new item! The “Together Dice” allows you to roll your standard dice block, but it also brings your partner directly to your space and has them roll a second dice block. The combined roll determines how many spaces both you and your partner move, and the two of you will recieve Jamboree Buddy effects. That includes double items and double Stars! No word on if your partner stays with you from there, but we’re going to assume they return to their space after your turn.

There’s a new space too. The “Summon Space” (translation via the Japanese official website) brings your partner directly to your location. Their arrival also gets you 5 coins. Given the name, we’re going to assume your partner stays with you.

Frenzy Rules Introduce 5-Turn Games

In a series first, the main Mario Party mode can be played with a maximum of five turns — but this comes with a few rule changes. From the start, players recieve Double Dice, 50 coins, and one Star. A typical Last Five Turns event is added right from the start, and duels are activated when landing on the same space as another player. No other word on what’s new!

Carnival Coaster Takes You Through Five Worlds

We get the general premise for Carnival Coaster. You use the mouse controls of the Nintendo Switch 2 to fire at enemies and obstacles as you ride along a rollercoaster. Minigames are played and time is added to your timer based on your performance. Think River Survival from Super Mario Party.

It’s a long trek across the rails, and now we know you’ll be riding through at least five different worlds. We still don’t know how long each world is and what the full ride looks like, but we at least know the level themes. Update: The translated trailer gave us the names of nearly all five courses:

  • grasslands coaster (not official)
  • Volcano Coaster
  • Sky-High Coaster
  • Haunted Coaster
  • Trial Coaster

Other Bits of Info

We didn’t spot anything drastically new with the Bowser Live mode outside what we already analyzed when the game was announced. We saw more footage of the version of the main mode with cameras activated, but it isn’t new information.

We also got closer looks at a few of the 20 new minigames. So that’s neat!

And that might be the biggest updates. Jamboree TV is looking at least a little more interesting than before, and it helps the game is out so soon on July 24. We’ll see what else is revealed before the launch!
