Paper Mario: The Origami King was revealed in a surprise announcement this morning as the latest entry in the beloved series, this time headed to the Nintendo Switch. It’s also set to release on July 17, 2020. That’s right, just over two months from now.
King Olly of the Origami Kingdom is bent on transforming the world into origami and starts by reconstructing many of Bowser’s minions into his own folded creations. After capturing Peach’s Castle and dropping it on top of a mountain, Mario sets off with his new partner Olivia to bring his reign to an end.
Mario will enlist new allies to help on his adventure including the likes of a Bob-omb, Kamek, and even Bowser Jr. Similar to the Paperize and Cutout abilites in the previous two entries, a new move called the 1000-Fold Arms allows Mario to stretch and pull at the environment to reveal new paths and hidden secrets.
It’s still unclear what the battle system looks like in The Origami King but we do know it will incorporate a ring system that allows you to twist enemy movements to attack multiple times in a row. Standard jump and hammer attacks return but we don’t know to what extent.
Mario Party Legacy is prepared to take on the task of guiding you through the latest Paper Mario adventure. Check out our guide hub and our walkthrough page for speculation on how each chapter is formatted and where levels and worlds fall in line.
