Over the past two weeks, rumors and little bits of interesting data started popping up suggesting a remake of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga was in the works. It wasn’t just a single piece of evidence either. We’ve had several updates all pointing towards this unannounced 3DS title, so we’ve compiled everything there is to know.

It all started when recognized hacker @SciresM found the Title ID for both Ever Oasis and the unannounced Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX. The game titles were discovered tucked away in a 3DS eShop server listing, a process in which you can learn more about here. His tweet:
Pretty excited for 00040000001A4800 (Ever Oasis) and 00040000001B8F00 (Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX).

Ever Oasis is a title set to release next month, while the Mario & Luigi name-drop is the first we’ve heard of the game. Just a day later, SciresM followed up on his report with a look at the home menu icons for the games:
Ha, Nintendo finally fixed their leaky metadata server. Might as well post everything I've got. Attached: ML:SSDX, Ever Oasis icons. pic.twitter.com/ZbD8TWHM0q

Yup, there it is. Take note that he also found the icon for Ever Oasis as this is important in determining these findings as legitimate. Just a few days ago, Kotaku verified the icon for Ever Oasis when the very same icon was seen on a demo unit at a preview event. Looks like the icons check out.
It wasn’t long before a more concrete name was found for the remake. The game is listed as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga+ Bowser’s Minions in the English list of names, while the Japanese listing sticks with a name closer to what was originally reported withマリオ&ルイージRPG1 DX.
Was anything else revealed besides the name and the icon? Yes, actually. The file size for the game is around 550MB. For reference, Paper Jam was released as a 512MB download, while Dream Team came to a total of 849MB.
So what’s next for this not so mysterious title? E3 2017 is just about a month away, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long before hearing more. Until then, let’s speculate away!
