Pokémon Sun and Moon Pre-Orders Live!

Pre-Orders are available for Pokémon Sun and Moon (and its special editions) in the UK. Pre-ordering standardly grants you either a Lunala figure or Solgaleo figure, but pre-ordering the special edition also gives you the “steel book.” If you are in the proper region, go here to pre-order them! Remember, Pokémon Sun and Moon release on November 23rd over there.

Pokémon GO: Cracked?

Source: gonintendo.com

Fans online have teamed up and created their own makeshift rarity chart for Pokémon GO. Obviously it won’t be perfect and you may disagree with some of the specific classifications, but I believe the community can relatively agree on the where most of these creatures are placed in rarity. The rarest I’ve found was an Ivysaur in wild; I’d be screaming if I found a Magnemite or Lapras, though! Have you guys caught anything cool?

Nintendo’s Making Bank!

PokemonGo1

Pokémon GO is now officially releasing in Japan. And with it, we’ve found that because of the immense success of the app, Nintendo has now surpassed Sony’s worth. It is now Japan’s top tech company, increasing its value by 14% since last week, alone! Good for you Nintendo!

The Alola Dex Expands

A bunch of new Pokémon have been announced in a trailer for Pokémon Sun and Moon. With it, we also learn that there is a new feature called Hyper Training that can only be used by level 100 Pokémon and that you can create your own competitions on the Global Link. But, the more important part, obviously, is the Pokémon! Be warned, there is a LOT to cover! Which one of these six are your favorite?

The first is Wimpod, the Turn Tail Pokémon. It is a Water/Bug type and has the new ability called Turn Tail. With the Wimp Out Ability, if this Pokémon’s HP drops below half in battle, it will run away or swap out for another Pokémon. Wimpod have a cowardly nature and are wary of noises and sudden movements. If you approach them in a group, they’ll immediately run off. When Wimpod feel threatened, they spit out a poisonous liquid. The stench of this toxic fluid signals others that danger is near. Despite their extreme cowardice, their curiosity leads Wimpod to approach people or Pokémon that are standing still. Wimpod eat and store anything that they find fallen on the ground. They also scavenge any garbage that’s been dropped in the sea, so they’re highly valued as cleaners. They sometimes carry pearls or other valuable items, so humans or Pokémon like Murkrow may target them.

Just after that came Bounsweet, a pure-Grass type that is known as the Fruit Pokémon. It can have the ability Leaf Guard or Oblivious. Because it exudes a delicious smell from its entire body, Bounsweet is popular with Pokémon and people of the Alola region. Bounsweet’s scent has a calming effect on humans, so many people let them live inside their homes as a sort of air freshener. Unfortunately, it’s sometimes swallowed whole by Pokémon drawn to its aroma. When running away from other Pokémon, Bounsweet flees danger by skipping along the ground. Since its bouncy movements don’t convey to others that it’s actually in desperate flight, no one ever comes to its aid. When attacked by enemies, it drives them off by rotating the calyx on its head. The downside is how dizzy it gets afterward!

Next was Comfey, the Posy Picker Pokémon that is clearly based off of a “lei.” Comfey will either have the ability Flower Veil or Triage. With the Triage Ability, this Pokémon’s restorative moves gain the highest priority in battle. Comfey is also a pure Fairy type. Comfey picks flowers and always carries them around. It makes a ring of blossoms and spreads oil from its body on it, which changes the flowers so they emit a soothing fragrance. It has a habit of giving these flower rings to those it’s fond of. The aroma can soothe both itself and its allies. Comfey also helps with the treatment of people and Pokémon at Pokémon Centers and hospitals, thanks to its aroma. When attacked by other Pokémon, it throws its flowers at them to create an opening, and then it either flees or strikes back.

Another new Pokémon was the sturdy and hard-working Pokémon named Mudsdale. Mudsdale is a pure Ground type with the ability Own Tempo or Stamina. With the Stamina Ability, this Pokémon’s Defense goes up by 1 when it’s hit by an attack. It is also known as the Draft Horse Pokémon. Mudsdale is known for its powerful body as well as its emotional fortitude, which keeps it from being agitated by anything. It never cries out, no matter what kind of trouble it’s in, and it defeats its opponents with a single powerful blow. Its legs are coated in protective mud, and the weight of this coating increases the force of its kicks. One kick, and a car is a pile of scrap! Mudsdale’s running speed is not too swift, but it has excellent power and stamina. It can carry on for three days and three nights despite dragging loads of over 10 tons! When Mudsdale gallops in earnest, the power of each hoof-clop can dig out huge holes, even in asphalt. Mudsdale is forbidden to run on some of Alola’s public roads.

Second to last was a Pokémon previously seen in CoroCoro that is named Mimikyu. Honestly, it is so cute, and so sad. It is known as the Disguise Pokémon and will have the new ability called Disguise. The Disguise Ability allows it to escape damage from an enemy’s attack just one time, and then its appearance changes. As mentioned in the leaks from last week, Mimikyu is a Ghost/Fairy type. Mimikyu lives its life completely covered by its cloth and is always hidden. People believe that anybody who sees its true form beneath the cloth will be stricken with a mysterious illness. People in the Alola region are convinced that you must never try to peek beneath its covering. Mimikyu’s health fails when it’s bathed in the rays of the sun, so it prefers to stick to dark places. It’s rumored that the reason it covers itself with a cloth is to avoid sunlight. The rising popularity of Pikachu-styled merchandise around 20 years ago is the reason that Mimikyu makes itself look like Pikachu. In fact, this Pokémon is dreadfully lonely, and it thought it would be able to make friends with humans if only it looked like Pikachu. Mimikyu’s Pikachu-like appearance is due to its Disguise Ability. In order to resemble Pikachu, this Pokémon makes patterns that look like eyes and a mouth appear on a regular scrap of cloth.

Finally, we have a big Pokémon obviously based on the Red Panda. It, too, was seen in CoroCoro magazine and is named “Bewear.” It is still a Normal/Fighting type that is known as the Strong Arm Pokémon. Bewear will either have the ability Klutz or the brand new ability called Fluffy. It is a strange one, I’ll give it that. The Fluffy Ability halves the damage taken from attacks that make direct contact, but in return it also doubles the damage taken from Fire-type moves. When Bewear is acting in a friendly fashion, just swinging its arms around, you must never dare to approach it carelessly. It is acknowledged to be a dangerous Pokémon, even within the Alola region. You may see warning signs posted near places it resides. When Bewear grows fond of its Trainer, it may show that feeling in a fond embrace—but the force of that hug is tremendous! Trainers must teach these Pokémon how to restrain their strength when showing affection. Some wild Bewear use amazing martial-arts moves. Apparently the Pokémon learn these moves by watching Black Belts practicing when they go out to train in the woods. Bewear’s arms and legs are strong and highly developed. Its powerful spine enables it to lift objects weighing a ton or more. It loves to give crushing bear hugs—a tight hug from this Pokémon’s arms will split anything at all in two!

Official gameplay for Pokkén Tournament on the on the arcade showing off the Pokémon Darkrai has crashed onto the internet. If you are lucky enough to live in Japan, you’ll find that Darkrai is available to be played in the arcade version of Pokkén Tournament. Check out what he plays like in the video above!

amiibo Come To Town!

AnimalCrossing1Starting this fall, amiibo support for Animal Crossing: New Leaf will be patched into the 3DS title. Yes, both the villager cards and the special amiibo figurines will be compatible with this popular game. Scanning the cards into New Leaf will have the villager printed on it to visit your town but what the figures do hasn’t been mentioned. There also seem to be some Splatoon things coming to New Leaf as well, quite possibly from the new series of Splatoon amiibo including Callie and Marie. This is just around the corner, too!

Pikachu Hits The Silver Screen

detectivepikachuThe movie production company Legendary Pictures has announced they are producing an official Detective Pikachu movie in partnership The Pokémon Company. Due to the massive success of Pokémon GO, Legendary Pictures made haste to acquire the rights into making this movie. Toho Pictures will be handling how the movie is marketed in Japan, but for the West, not much else is known except that Netflix may be interested in picking up distribution.

Nintendo was there, too, so GameXplain has captured 10 minutes of them playing an area called “Dark Bloo Inn” in Paper Mario: Color Splash, and it looks really nice. If you want to watch their video, please check here. So what do you think? Do you think Paper Mario: Color Splash looks promising?

The results are in; the Callie versus Marie Splatfest in Splatoon will take place on Kelp Dome, Moray Towers, and Walleye Warehouse. Nintendo of America posted a tweet showing the top five maps the fans voted for within various regions in the world. Averaging those top 5 results together resulted in those three maps being chosen. And very soon… we’ll be facing each other for the last time! Hope you got some last-minute training in!

Pokémon Info Coming August 1st

PokemonSuMo

Pokémon information is coming very soon, it seems. On August 1st, Pokémon Sun and Moon is having some new info coming out. We’ll be hearing whatever this new information is at 9AM EST and 6AM PST. I bet we’ll get some brand-new Pokémon seen as well as some more on the Alola region.

Sonic Mania?!

Late today, two Sonic Games were revealed. The first was Sonic Mania, a completely 2D Sonic game themed off of the original Sonic titles. Various reimaginings of zones from the first three Sonic titles from the Sega Genesis are inside Sonic Mania as well as new zones, too, such as the beautiful “Studiopolis Zone.” The game appears to be a shake-up of what we know and love for Sonic but still is familiar to classic fans of the blue blur. It releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Spring 2017.

Sonic’s Next Generation

Sonic Mania was not the only title revealed tonight. “Sonic the Hedgehog 2017” was revealed, too! Not much is known, but it appears that this game will be taking place in some post-apocalyptic universe. Oh, and Classic Sonic is also in this game, potentially making this game take place after Sonic Generations from a few years ago. This game is being developed by the team who worked on Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors. At the end of the debut trailer of this, we see that “Sonic the Hedgehog 2017” will come Holiday 2017 on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and the elusive Nintendo NX.

Figure of the Wild

Source: zeldauniverse.net

A beautiful figure based off of Link from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been revealed in Japan. This foot long figure comes from Medicom Toy. Various items that come with this Link figure are his bow and arrow, a shield, a hood, and quiver of arrows among other things. His clothes are made of real cloth, too! Link will stand at a foot tall and will ¥30,240 ($285 USD). However, the date of the figure’s release has yet to be revealed.

What’s Inside Sonic’s Next Title?

I’ve already covered the announcement of the upcoming Sonic title for 2017, however, GameXplain decided to analyze the teaser footage we all saw. It is a short analysis, just like the footage itself, but it does give us a general idea of what part of this title’s setting may be. Please watch it for more!

What’s Behind Pokémon?

PokemonSumo2

Translations from a Famitsu interview with the director of Pokémon Sun and Moon, Shigeru Ohmori, and the producer of those two games, Junichi Masuda, are out on NintendoEverything. The interview talks fervently about why the Alola region is based on Hawaii, what went into making the Battle Royal feature, and even a little bit on Pokémon GO. There was a inside (far too much to be listed here), so please take a look at it through the link provided if you want more details on just what is going on behind the development of Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Leaders Revealed!

Visible in the tweet above, the actual depictions of the leaders of Team Mystic, Valor, and Instinct have officially been revealed. At SDCC, we saw these three for the first time as well as getting several other pieces of information for Pokémon GO. Niantic’s own John Hanke mentioned that he wants players to be able to somehow alter the function of a PokéStop akin to changing the function of the lure. He also stated that upcoming Pokémon of next generations  will be coming through the following months and even years. However, we got no word of just how Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, and Mew will be incorporated into the app thus far.

The Final Splatfest Concludes!

Source: reddit.com

Yes, it is true, the final Splatfest with Callie versus Marie has ended! And who won? Well, Marie’s side won! With a final score of 340 to 360, we can see that both teams fought valiantly to try and beat the other side. Unfortunately for those who liked Callie more, my girl Marie brought home first place!

Sonic Mania to Come on 3DS?

SonicManiaWhen Sonic Mania was revealed a few days ago, one could totally see it was only coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. No Nintendo platforms in sight… however, Jools Watsham of Renegade Kid tweeted directly at the Sonic twitter that he’d be interesting in porting Sonic Mania onto the 3DS. You may recognize Renegade Kid for developing games like Xenodrifter or Mutant Mudds. Both of which are great titles… I’m eager to see if Sega is willing to allow Renegade Kid to port Sonic Mania onto the 3DS.
