Since the announcement back at E3 2015, there have been no news for Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Now, Nintendo has quietly announced that the 3DS game will launch in Japan on Thursday, December 3, 2015. Nintendo has also confirmed that the game will feature amiibo support. Here is a list of figures that will be supported:

- Bowser
- Toad
- Dr. Mario
- 8-Bit Mario (Classic/Modern)
- Yarn Yoshi (Green/Light Blue/Pink/Mega)
Scanning the figures will give you special cards that will aid you in battle. As the game is not far from its Japanese release, we can expect more information soon. Box art for the Japanese release has also been revealed. Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam will be released in North America and Europe in Spring 2016, and Fall 2016 for Australia.
