It’s not that anyone’s mad that there’s only 16 spots, it’s just that they chose the stupidest fucking characters to be in these 16 spots. Sprixie Princess? Not, oh, I don’t know, maybe DIDDY KONG?!
Another stupid thing people are saying is that “oh there’s going to be DLC, just like Open.”
Uh, yeah. PAID DLC. You don’t pay for QR codes, and I’m 99.9% sure that they are going to make you cough up cash for more characters. Why wouldn’t they? It’s easy money. Because Nintendo doesn’t already have enough.

Dude first of all why is it the end of the world that newcomers first time playable characters are dumb I don’t think these are stupid choices heck Sprixie is actually a great choice to be honest considering that we are finally getting someone from super mario 3d world to be playable and of course were gonna get dlc for this game just like how Mario Kart 8 did I do find it odd that Diddy kong didn’t come along with Bowsr jr but hey maybe he’ll come back as dlc we just have to be patient and wait for… Read more »

Everyone’s arguing about the character selection. So allow me to weigh in with my two cents looking at the whole situation… So Camelot’s been drafted by Nintendo to create a multiplayer Mario game for the Holiday season. The most logical choice in this short period of time, would be a Mario Tennis game. After all, their goal with the series is no longer to pad it with modes, etc. it’s to provide fun, quality gameplay. That’s probably how they view the game as being able to be rushed out. Next, I’ll be on a little tangent, but I’d like to… Read more »

I don’t think they are trying to phase out Diddy, Birdo, or Bowser Jr. since they actually are still using them in other games (they all were in Camelot’s last Mario game, Mario Golf: World Tour and they will all be in the yet to be released Rio Olympics game after all) I think it really is just a matter of most of Nintendo’s projects being rushed this gen to make up for a lack of third party support and so things that seem obvious to us end up getting added later as DLC or left out all together. This… Read more »

I like this roster to a certain extent, but the main issue for this game is that for a Wii U game, this has a VERY small roster! Honestly, this roster is more fit for the 3DS version of Mario Tennis, and yet that game somehow has a bigger roster!!!???

To be honest, now I’m not angry with Sprixie Princess’ inclusion anymore, I might even try her out if l buy the game, but I still really hope they add all the other Sprixie Princesses too, I really would like to play as the red and the cyan ones. Just change the racket color, the hair, and the color scheme.

Sprixie Princess is in the game instead of Diddy Kong?
