Ike Returns in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS!

Ike has returned to the fight in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS! Sakurai took to Miiverse to give a few details on the announcement:

Ike’s design is based on the hero that appears in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. His sword deals heavy damage in Smash Bros., so this design suits him very well! Rest assured, he can use Aether as well.

Are you happy with Ike’s return? Should a different Fire Emblem character have made it in instead? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

I’m so glad Ike is back. He was one of my mains in Brawl, and he’s super strong too. But they really need to do something about his revcovery. I mean, I know it’s to keep things even, but still.

Totally agree. He’s one of my mains too, but the recovery is really bad. Ike is perfect in the ground and sucks in the air, like Little Mac in this aspect.

same for zelda. her aerial attacks are excellent, but her recovery (up b/up special) is rather bad. ok,she can teleport, but it’s rather unpredictable where will she warp to.

I usually don’t play as Zelda, so I don’t know a lot about her attacks, but I think the recovery isn’t so bad from what I remember.

For those who are interested, here are the popularity rankings of all the Fire Emblem Awakening characters in Japan (This is as official as it gets in terms of polls):

I’d laugh if Owain was a SSB4 newcomer. :p

Your logic makes no sense but okay. Besides, it’s ranked by gender. They are both first.

Popularity does tend to correlate with main character status in any game. Chrom, Lucina and Robin are all the main characters and are all the highest ranked in terms of popularity as-well. This is not coincidental and helps explain why people tend to support these characters more frequently. For another comparison, Shulk is widely considered one of the most boring Xenoblade characters and yet he’s easily the most requested SSB4 Newcomer by far. Why? It’s because most of the fans think pragmatically in that if Xenoblade does get a representative, which fans wisely think is better than nothing at all… Read more »

I wonder if this will influence the SSB roster, although that would stink for me, because I found that this list was pretty much all B.S. Owain and Lon’qu should be close to last, Chrom should be dead last (the best candidate for Smash besides Lucina since he is a good representative of the game as whole, although he is sooooo boring,) Tharja should be second, Cherche should be third, Yarne, Panne, Emmeryn, and Nah obviously deserve higher, Tiki is way better than Cordelia, etc. I wonder if the characters have extremely different personalities in Japan or something, because I… Read more »

well…. good. every character has been good so far, except Rosalina. I’m happy, (honestly there is a big chunk of disappointment though) especially since 3 of my most wanted newcomers have made it in.
