Is it just me, or does the gameplay on Perilous Palace Path bear a striking resemblance to Wii Party’s Board Game Island.
You are indeed correct on that. Nd Cube (developers of Island Tour) have also developed Wii Party & Wii Party U. So, yes, with the minigames before the turn begins, racing to the finish first, and the bonus dice blocks, the two are very similar gameplay wise.
Bowser’s Pelicular Peak music is a remix of the Bowser’s areas music in Super Mario 64.
This game looks disappointing. Most of the sounds come from Mario Party 9.
yeah It is kind of disappointing to me too
Yeah, I’ve beaten Bowser’s Tower and played all of the boards. (Minus Shuffle City. This is why this game should have had online, I have my little brother, Kirbyman64, but we have no one else to play with. If the game had online, then I would actually be able to beat the game complete.) This game takes about 8 hours to get absolutely everything, which is really short. The boards are great and all, but it only takes a few plays each to see absolutely everything. And Bowser Tower gets boring REALLY fast.
I agree, Bowser’s Tower does require very little skill, which makes the single player aspect of the game very bland. But luckily, I have 2 older brothers and a younger sister who’s in eighth grade. So, I’ve actually played Shy Guy’s Shuffle City with them. It’s really fun, but ends really quick (like most of the other boards). But, the board does require the most skill out of the others.
But yeah, single player is really boring. As per usual, Multiplayer is where Mario Party shines.
I was going to get the game but I changed my mind 😛
Probably a good call. It’s a decent game, but ND Cube (Developers of this game), should at least ATTEMPT to bring back the old Mario Party formula in future games and have each board feature a different formula like in this game. I respect ND cube trying to make the game different than the older ones, but this game seems like it’s missing something because of it. (They could have easily made one of the boards be battle royal style.) I’ll let ND cube go for now, but if they won’t make a proper Mario Party over the next decade… Read more »
I agree, the new formula ND Cube has brought to the Mario Party series is not as good as the old formula. And what’s really funny, is that in 2010-2011, ‘Hudson Soft’ (Developers of Mario Parties 1-8, Advance, and DS) employees started to migrate over to Nintendo’s restructured ND Cube. In March 2012, Hudson Soft officially disbanded. And Hidetoshi Endo (Current President of ND Cube) was before President of Hudson Soft, himself. And we never know, Nd Cube just might surprise us. They’re kind of getting closer and closer to the old formula, if you look closely. In MP9, they… Read more »
FINALLY someone else who hates the car idea. But I think the main reason Island Tour was only decent is because they were working on Wii Party U (seriously, if you are the developers of the Mario Party series, it makes no sense to make a complete knock-off of it.) at the same time. If they only work on MP10, then they could have more time to actually polish the game and make it more than decent. I also agree that they’re taking a step in the right direction. I think in the future we may finally get a Mario… Read more »
Amen.
Lame. I said the same thing on another comment and I got zero upvotes!
How is it better than 9 when pretty much every sound comes from it!
Sound effects don’t matter. Only Gameplay. Island Tour takes everything MP9 had and made it (slightly) better.
I thought you said it beat the crap out of MP9. Now you’re saying it’s only slightly better?
OK, it doesn’t beat the crap out of it, but it’s better.
I think I could agree with you on that one if I got the game.
So if sound effects don’t matter does that mean the game would still be good if every noise was a fart?
If the game was good enough, then yes.
Of course, that probably would never happen. (Unless you let a four year old develop a video game.)
Why the downvotes? I watched all the videos and it seems that so many sound effects and character voices come from MP9.
Well, look at Super Mario 3D World. Almost all of the music and sound effects come from 3D Land, but World is an overall better game than Land.
Are you serious? OK, I can agree with the sound effects, but the music is 100% original!
Most of it. The World 1 Castle and Snow themes are reused.
That’s like, 10% of the music (maybe less)
Why does everyone hate the car?! It’s so much fun!
Not for us.
Maybe for about the first hour.
True.
finally someone who likes the car 🙂
I don’t think MP9 formula is that kind of horrible, but it’s true in MP1-8 the formula is better, and in Island Tour, I honestly like the formula and you’re right about Nd Cube, it seems the formulas of their MP games are bit by bit more similar to the old formula.
it is really disappointing, I was really looking forward to this game :'(
Mostly the minigame sounds.
And Character Voices
*Sees Bowser’s Particular Peak*
Whoa, Bowsers lucky he doesn’t get charged by child services for child abuse.
…Wait, there’s no unlockable DK stage? Donkey Kong’s not in this at all?
What the hell, Nintendo. You couldn’t even let him have a cameo?
Yep, they really slacked off this time.
I like how the Bowser level music is a mix from Super Mario 64’s Koopa Road
I noticed that and I enjoyed how they used remixed versions like in Rocket Road also

Who’s your favourite? Kamek’s Carpet Ride Red Mansion or Green Mansion. Mine is Green, but I admit the two are almost the same thing.
Red Mansion, in my opinion.
For me the Red Mansion resembles Kamek’s Library from MPDS.
