Week 13: Super Smash Bros. Official Site Updates

The official website for the two upcoming Super Smash Bros. titles is once again making updates on a regular basis. Similar to the Super Smash Bros. Dojo for Brawl, the official website will post images from both games five times a week. Whether this means we get announcements and characters reveals is still up in the air, but rest assured that new content is always coming your way. Keep checking back to this post as we update everything that is released for this week! A new post will be made for the next week.

Monday, September 2

Mario Bros., your days are numbered! Donkey Kong in the current build is super strong…but we’ll be looking at the battle records when balancing out the characters, so nobody knows how he will turn out in the end.

Tuesday, September 3

The Villager has two balloons. They can be popped one at a time.

Wednesday, September 4

His sliding move was originally used to pass under tight spaces.

Thursday, September 5

An encounter in the middle of a marathon…?

Friday, September 6

Although it’ll deal Pit some damage, Thunder Jolt isn’t powerful enough to stop the Upperdash Arm!

A veteran of the Forum, you'll probably know me as H-J (Kaabii) or 8B1T. My main role on the website is as an assistant editor. My favorite Nintendo franchises are Mario, Kirby and Legend of Zelda, though I do have fleeting moments of entering fandoms beyond the Big N (mainly Japan only stuff).

I have a feeling Mario is just taunting here and only Luigi is getting thrown down by DK.
On the issue of balancing, I seriously wonder if this game will be about quick high damage matches (reminded of Flame Blast hitting for around 60% in that Sakurai plays as Megaman video).

Screenshots of what Sakurai should reveal this week. For once, it would be best if we saw these.

H-J is doing this now, is he? Surely the Mario Bros. can get DK’s butt.

Cookie Country from Kirby’s Return to Dream Land? That arena I think is the place of the Kirby Dedede battle in Kirby Super Star. I’m hoping for a Mario Stage to be announced for the Wii U Version.

D.K.’s attack seems to be more focused on Luigi… 🙁

Maybe this is why Mario sometimes has his own adventures.

He’s supposed to be brutal! He’s DK!

I hope the two balloon system isn’t an attempt to stall single meteor finishers or something, but I suppose it’s easily defeated by a multi-hitting N-air or something.

Screenshots of what I believe could be (one of) the Villager’s Taunt(s) and his Final Smash,

Rather lame FS, if so. Should be a bombardment of all his utilities he garners.

What else would Fireworks be for? Basically I’m Predicting here, so we don’t know what it really is at this point.

It was said that the fireworks are an up smash attack.

Up Attacks help Characters reach high ledges, so it might actually be his Balloon Trip move.

The confirmation of a newly confirmed stage and Zero Suit Samus is taking longer than we hoped, not sure if they’ll make it.

By the way, general discussion I’ve been seeing suggests Top Spin is the dash attack which probably makes the slide a down tilt.

Does anyone else think that the villager with the balloons is kind of like the balloon fighter? That’s pretty cool in my opinion! 😀

Certainly. It was the first thing to mind. Though… I feel it means Balloon Fighter may not be playable…(i still have hopes)

Its Skyloft from the legend of Zelda: skyward sword and it was shown off in the E3 trailer.

Apparently the stage is the Dr Wily Castle stage, though the screenshot isn’t too obvious about it.

So apparently there’s some armor type attribute to Upperdash Arm. Nice.

The Predicted Control Scheme I think is for the 3DS Version and when using the Wii U GamePad:

*Analog Stick: Move, Crouch, Jump
*Control Pad: Grab, Shield
*A/Y: Attack
*B/X: Special Attack
*L and R: Taunt(s)
Might this be possible?

Actually, I’m thinking it’ll be closer to the gamecube controller’s controls.
With X and Y for jump, L and R for shield, and the control pad for the taunts.

3 different Taunts from Brawl may indeed be back, so I indeed think it’ll be the L and R Buttons. And judging most games, jumping has involved tilting the analog stick upward.
