Take a look at this. Since the announcement of Mario Party: Island Tour (formerly known as Mario Party 3DS) back in April, six characters were confirmed to be playable. These characters included:
It was only a matter of time before veterans Yoshi and Waluigi were revealed, and that news came yesterday morning. This brought our total of characters to eight. The last handheld installment in the series, Mario Party DS, featured eight characters total, so it would only make sense that Island Tour’s roster would surpass it.
Nintendo has just released several pieces of official art, most of which contained recycled character art. The eight characters we previously mentioned were all featured, along with an additional two characters. Care to guess who? Boo and Bowser Jr. are both present alongside the rest of the playable crew, signaling what we will take as playable roles.
If correct, Boo will return to a playable position after his absence in both Mario Party DS and Mario Party 9, but this will be Bowser Jr.’s first playable appearance in the series. Thanks to a keen observation made by HJ, the roster is looking very similar to that of Mario Party 5, simply having Bowser Jr. replace Koopa Kid.
This by no means says that Island Tour will only feature ten characters, but we will have to wait and see if any additional characters are added. What do you think about the supposed inclusion of these two characters? If this is it, who would you replace them with? Share all your thoughts in the comments below!
