In the most recent daily image from the official Super Smash Bros. website, Captain Olimar was revealed to return as a playable character. To go along with the announcement, a handful of images were released, showing off Olimar’s newest moves and the new Pikmin stage.
Sakurai had a few words to say in his Miiverse post:
Pikmin & Captain Olimar have landed! Congrats on the launch of Pikmin 3 in Japan!

yay, new character
boo, olimar. not that hes that bad of a character, i was just hoping more for one of the new pikmin characters, preferably alph. still, yay, new character 😀
THRILLED that Olimar is back, he’s one of my favs. Woohoo! ;D
And not i the 3DS Version since he’s not been in any handheld’s. Alph from Pikmin 3 should appear as well.
Wouldn’t Alph technically be a clone of Olimar, since they both use Pikmin?
Yay Olimar is confirmed, and so is his new stage, we’ll find out more later. Did “anyone” noticed kirby picture here? I might be seeing things there, but comparing other image, looks like super mushroom maybe is back too.
My prediction each game that closer to released (most likley jp date), will get something new like stage, item or character. We might wonder red from wonderful 101 on japan time, peach shown in dec when mario land 3d is released.
I wish sakurai added stage page into his dojo or music, brawl was the best.
Hey, did anyone noticed that there no new pikmin in picture with olimar, this could mean they could revealed later in pic with him or new secret character with rock and flying pikmin.

Koopa 27 Don’t worry, Yoshi will be revealed next year this might be called year of yoshi, since his game will be revealed next year. Wario might be unexpected from miiverse update. Or if there is wario game coming they might released closer to released date or when his game is annouced. I have a theory or prediction in other post please what do you think. I for one honestly want snake to come back with his new game to be on wii u since it on all major console except for wii u. Most likely they could do annoucement on august to finish his year long 25th anniversary.

what is with you and being convinced that next year is year of yoshi? nintendo isnt randomly assigning years to their characters, it was only year of luigi because its his 30th anniversary of being a character 😐

Pretty much major icon like wario and yoshi or obsurces that are important to nintendo history like rob and G&W are staples. This is just an educated and safe guesses for smash. It could be possible that anony (just like me) must been following smash news and info alot. Do note: that yoshi getting two games next year. it may not be just him, but there other user suggesting (even 20-30 post on miiverse) next year for yoshi. ROB was a console accessory that has made very few game appearances, and G&W is a character who hasnt had a game in years. so, if the rumors of a small roster are true, those characters will most likely be cut.

G&W appeared melee and brawl, plus he won’t have problem being in upcoming smash, his character is based Game & watch handheld. Plus there concept art of upcoming smash by smash dev team planning on game that the director’s twitter(but he deleted it quickly). I’m not stating as fact like you forcibly imposed on me instead is my simple intuition that these guy will be in game since there staple and would not be the same without those guy. Uh yeah they are my predictions and using the “will” is just my belief or certainly prediction, another thing please don’t misinterpreting me or take it too seriously. Year of yoshi is another my predictions, since two or more yoshi related game will be released in 2014.
