As of today, Mario Party 9 has been on store shelves for an entire month in the United States. NPD has released sale figures for the month of March, ranking Mario Party 9 below some of the major releases of the month, but still making it into the top 10. The top 10 selling games of March of 2012 are:

- Mario Party 9 (Wii)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (360, PS3, Wii, PC)
- Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations (360, PS3)
- Major League Baseball 2K12 (360, PS3, Wii, NDS, PSP, PC, PS2)
Ranking seventh among some of the biggest releases of the year, Mario Party 9 managed to sell a total of 230,000 units in the United States in the first month of release. In comparison, Mario Party 8 managed to sell 550,000 units in the United States in its first month and ranked second in the NPD top 10, just after Pokemon Diamond. Please note that Mario Party 8 launched in a period of Nintendo dominance and a barren release schedule.
