What popular songs show signs of musical improvement?

If you don't understand what I mean by this, what popular songs are you all glad to hear as if popular music shows signs of improvement? I mean, I LOVE music, really :D

Among many
-Anything by Maroon 5
-Anything by Lorde (except Royals, can't stand es bland)
-Counting Stars by OneRepublic
-Animals by Martin Garrix

Animals by Martin Garrix is a good song, but it's absolutely nothing compared to the variety you can find in the EDM scene. There are many great songs out there in that vast realm. I'm not saying it's a bad song, just that if you get into that, you'll see there is so much yet to be discovered.

Anyways, right now, I can't really tell. I know The Neighbourhood are pretty popular in what they do and I'm really in love with what they do. Lorde is also really good.

Happy to see my fave song by lorde is number nine, Team will slay

Animals is the first popular song I've heard thats EDM that ISNT Avicii, Zedd, or Skrillex. Not so much an EDM person, but I like every now and then

Tomorrow I will go and find some Neighbourhood songs ;)

Also found that Unconditionally is REALLY good in my taste. And, side note with Maroon 5, Projcect Daylight made me cry.

I mean, like what popular songs actually DESERVE to be up there and is good and shows the future of music is bright and yes I am aware I used and like ten times and that this sentence is really long.
i think you're forgetting musical taste is subjective and whether it's "good" or not is left up to the listener
I think you're forgetting just because something is subjective doesn't mean good and bad are negated.

good and bad are decided by the listener. if a large number of people agree that a song is bad and one person believes it is good, then that makes the song bad to the number of people who don't like it and good to the person who likes it. there is no universal force which governs the quality of a song.

the topic just circlejerks the idea that all popular music is bad. there are a lot of people who actually enjoy the music played in the top 40 and wouldn't consider it bad by any means.

I can easily say something is bad because I don't like it.
and someone can just as easily disagree with your opinion on that.
