So which of these two games were better?
I prefer 3D World, it has a ton of interesting power-ups and mildly challenging levels.

3D World is better because 60 frames per second makes it automatically better. 
To be more serious, still 3D World, because the levels aren't so insanely short, and are a bit more challenging. But it's not hugely better, because it still uses similar rules, controls and stuff that I didn't like from 3D Land (limited camera, 8-way movement, flag poles, etc).
