Plum and the Cancer drama...

The member Plum lied about having cancer. He said it one day and made a topic to get attention, and everyone was really worried for him. One day he just stopped mentioning it completely, people were wondering what's up. Every time someone asked him, he would lie to their face. Then one day, the super sleuth Aegis caught the lie, then Plum admitted, and the rest just blew up in Plum's face and a massive drama storm happened, and the rest is history.

What were you thoughts on the matter and the massive drama storm that happened I was very disappointed in him and the nerve he had to lie about something like that... I was really shocked.

It just goes to show you that even the most INNOCENT forums get a few tools who proclaim themselves to be something they're not. I wanted to punch Plum in the cock but him leaving the forum altogether was an overall mature move to do, rather than denying the lie or sparking more drama by cussing out other members.

I was really shocked and a bit hurt that he lied about it, but I really had a problem with the way the members responded. Everyone has a right to be upset about what happened, but running the member out of the Forum and making him feel less worth than dirt was just as bad and quite frankly, immature. We all make mistakes. We all do stupid things. And when we are called out on it, we should be sorry and you can definitely expect a negative reaction. But forgiveness is always the next step. Plum did a terrible thing, but he did not have to be treated so harshly.

Just my two cents I suppose. I hope we as a Forum react differently if something like this ever happens again.

EDIT: saying "the members" isn't exactly what I meant. Not everyone responded the same way.

According to him I think he said he was depressed and originally going to leave but decided to stay, which is no excuse, because one could just leave without any crappy lie to make everyone else think he was slowly dying. Ah well, it's a wonder to think how much of his many stories were true, and if he didn't lie at all if he'd still be here.

Cancer is just not something you lie about. He deserved what he got plain and simple. What were we supposed to do, act like it never happened? Lying is one of my biggest pet peeves and I'm just not gonna sit there and let him think that was ok.

Agreed with Ryou 100%. My mom died from brain cancer. It's not like I'm gonna feel sorry or sympathetic towards Plum's lies just because he felt depressed and lonely. He was an asshole for faking a disease that is most of the time terminal for millions of people and he threw it in the face of members all the time as a "poor me poor me" card. Applaud the members for keeping dickwads like him out of a cool community.

I'm honestly with SZ here. (Though this is probably because my own life has never really been affected by cancer other than the fact that it exists).

Sure, he lied about a life-threatening disease and kept on lying about it (was shocked and a little angry at the time), but he was sorry afterwards, and the least some of you could do is at least accept it instead of running him out of there. (even if you decide to overall just ignore him for a while until however long it takes for you to calm over it)

...and again, I'm sure you all must have been extremely angry about this (again - cancer has never affected anyone I know or myself, so I don't know how angry you guys were), but in the end, it's not like he murdered someone like you all are treating this as...
Forgive and forget...

Get cups ready now
You can forgive and forget
Oh please, it's one or the other
In my case I have forgot about it not forgive
I understand what he was going through but he will not be forgiven by me
You can't play around with Cancer now
How he say he only had x days to live and chemotherapy
For real, people experience this type of abnormality in their lives to joke about it is like disrespecting those group of people who have been traumatized by this unavoidable tragedy
My guess is that SZ and Yoshiman are very passive

While I have never dealt with cancer personally, I have dealt with more death than the average person and for someone to lie about having something as life threatening as that is one of the worst things anyone could do. To me he is worse than scum and should be ashamed of himself. There are somethings that you cannot forgive and that is one of them. I cannot see why anyone would defend him.

Forgive and forget someone who mocked the very disease that killed my mom? Yeah, okay trolls.

And I agree with most of what you all say. Yes, what he did was terrible. Yes, there are plenty of reasons to be mad, and that is completely understandable. Of course you can't just let something like this go. No way am I saying to be sorry for him.

But I do have a problem with the way he was treated after. Like I said, he literally became worse than dirt, and he was run out of this Forum without a second thought. How are you being any better when you are treating another person this way? No way should he get any sympathy for what he did, but at least treat him like he is still a person. Which he is. I see nothing accomplished in the way that he was actually treated.

And when it comes to forgiveness, that is never an easy thing to do and I wouldn't expect to see it happen for a long time for those that are so closely affected by the subject. But I fail to see how any other option would be beneficial to anyone.

Ah, memories.  ::)

I'll just say forgive and forget no matter what to this. ::)
...just something I'll say, even if I know it's impossible to do.

..I'll just go with what SZ says since he can explain what I'm thinking better than I can (even without knowing).

Still, not like I understand how much it hurts you all, so sorry if what I said did make you feel angry or something...

I never knew how he got run out or anything, but like Ryou and Aegis said I can't stand lying especially about something like that. When Snowy lied about his parents being dead (and sucked at lying since half the people kinda guessed he was lying anyways :p) he lost my respect for a good year or 2. But hey Snowy's a cool dude now in my book so anything could've happened with Plum lol.

Plum didn't even get "ran out" of the forum. He voluntered to quit the forum after a few passionate posts so I don't see how we are to blame here. Why would MPL even allow scum like that to even stay? If we all took a little lesson from MPF and YoshiMan, a member who starts massive amounts of drama will always do so to get a rise out of the community. Having Plum stay would have completely thrown off the stability of the forum.

First off, no one ran Plum off. They were stating the truth, and he left on his own free will. I know some people were a bit harsh (but they had their reasons), but the majority people just said "Can't look at you the same", "You ruined your reputation", or "I can't believe this", none of which are bad. I understand depression, so I knew how he was feeling there, but just the fact that Boo asked him the day before, and Plum literally lied to his face... it's just wow. Plum did a horrible thing lying like this, he must of had a huge laugh looking at all us suckers giving him condolences...

but what's done is done, ultimately, it blew up in his face, and he has no one to blame but himself.

Looking back on my Blog topic, I was really the only one cussing out at him. The rest of the members, like Staryu said, basically told Plum how much of a douche he was for pulling this shit. Everybody acted as maturely as possible within the confines of that topic.
