Its supposed to be, idk, tongue in cheek I guess. I believe that's the correct word. And IDGAF what you think  Honestly though the name matters very little outside of getting things up and running. In the future it can be changed very easily if need be without starting from scratch. I don't foresee it limiting new members or anything (I was thinking about it and lots of popular sites have straight up retarded names, like Boing Boing). And its more versatile than fuseforums or theentertainmentforum because forum isn't in the name. So in the future if/when there's a blog component, that can become the main domain and the forums can be moved to /forum

I also messed around with a secondary blog on tumblr to try and figure out how that works. I guess you can just add people to be able to post and/or edit the blog. Seems simple enough, although I had to figure it all out myself or through Googling because Tumblrs help section sucks.

(also, apparently magic mouses (mice?) get weird & slow when the battery is low...)

I care what I think. :-\ The name isn't terrible though it just sounds corny at first but yeah a lot of popular sites have stupid(er) names. Like Snowy goes on boyah.com at first I thought he was joking when he posted that cause it sounds like a site where gay people go.

And this forum or whatever is gonna run on SMF?

It'll be on SMF most likely.

TheDude offered to help pay for a vBulletin license (apparently he'll be coming into several hundred dollars pretty soon) but as Maxi mentioned on NC, vBulletin is a good forum software but its not really worth the price you pay. No point wasting money. I compared SMF, vBulletin, Invision, and phpBB and the only feature I found that vB had that SMF didn't that I thought would be nice was threaded conversations (basically allows you to reply directly to a specific post, rather than just the topic itself). But that's not worth upwards of $100 to me.

Like I've said, it will probably be a month before the forum is completely up and running. I don't want my WI trip to interfere with things & I don't really want to throw down the money for hosting right now while I'm not working (its not expensive but I'd rather save my money as best as I can right now).

I suppose if we wanted, we could start working on the blog aspect right now, seeing as how that can be hosted on tumblr for the time being (or forever, if we wanted). But to me it makes a little more sense to focus on one thing at a time. If people really want to start adding content though, I wouldn't object.

lol Straight Legit :p

A good board layout would probably be mostly based around these:

Amatatomba said:
Movies, music, video games, tech, sports, news & current events, and then just random stuff

Then with sub-boards about each subject. Something like this:

Straight Legit
  • Site/Forum
    • Rules and FAQ
    • Suggestions and Feedback
    • Announcements
  • Introductions

Movies
  • Movies
    • Reviews
  • News
  • People

Music
  • Artists and Bands
  • Albums and Songs
    • Reviews
  • News

Video Games
  • Video Games
    • Online Games
    • Reviews
  • Video Game Systems
  • Game Developers

Technology
  • Computers
  • Handheld Devices

Sports
  • Sports
    • Upcoming Events
  • Teams/Players

Current Events
  • Global News
  • Politics

Miscellaneous
  • General Discussion
  • Creativity
    • Writing
    • Artwork
  • Life
  • Debate/Serious Discussion (possibly hidden)
  • Mature/OMB (obviously hidden :p)

I just sort of threw this together in 15 minutes, so a lot of these are probably too broad or narrow, especially since I know almost nothing about some of these subjects. But it's a starting point at least. :p
