I think it's 80-100 coins in Cast Aways in the first Mario Party game.
I think he might mean the bonus mini-games. Could be Game Guy's mini-games.
I think the most I got would be maybe between 30-40 in Parasol Plummet in Mario Party 3 or 40 in Deep Sea Salvage but nowhere near that crazy amount you could easily win the game with 500.
