Mario Party 9 - Can I influence the die result in any way?

I noticed the CPU often getting exactly the die number they want if they're in Master mode.

So I wondered if I can also influence the die result.
- At first I thought it's rotating in a really weird way, for some time the top side stays top, then completely rolls away and other sides get the top side one after another until the die "calms down" again. No matter what side was up, I always got other results.
- Shaking the Wiimote makes the die bigger and faster, but that also affects nothing.

I think it's just plain random and the CPU gets some kind of "cheat" delta to be harder since it's AI is limited in some Minigames and wouldn't make it "Master" like.
Or did I miss something? :)

..nnoooo you're just unlucky. :p

You can sorta in Bowser Jr.'s boss minigame but that's it.

Oh yeah, especially in that boss game I thought the CPU cheats! :D So it is possible to manipulate it there? At least from the physical animation of the die falling down on the floor as it seems (the normal in-game dice just move out of the screen and come back so there's no visual clue about how they behave). But I could'nt find a rule for easily detecting the up side.
