Baby Park

maxresdefault.jpg

Baby Park is indeed a very detailed track. It has many "attractions" surrounding it, and that makes the background quite appealing. However, the races feel too quick with 7 laps, especially on 200cc. I could finish the track in about 1 minute and 25 seconds! The inside of the track is too bland, with tiny grass shortcuts, making the mushrooms almost useless. It definitely got boring for me after playing it quite a few times, and it felt like all you were doing was going straight, and then turning for 7 small laps. I thought this track definitely didn't deserve to be in the game because it was too small, and the races took awfully quick.

RobinFTW got it spot on! (10 Points)
RafalRib got it within 2! (3 Points)
Standings are above because it's the first day... :p

And now we move on. #15 is...
Dragon Driftway
maxresdefault.jpg

Dragon Driftway is an okay course. The beginning is somewhat fun, but it is somewhat bland and gets boring. Once you leave Gobblegut's "tail", you go into another spiral-like section. What I like about this section is that there are multiple shortcuts provided. It was nice doing the three shortcuts (2 grass, and the 1-shroom one where you hop over a patch of grass to cut more road off) during races. The coin/item balance was okay; for some reason it felt like there were too many coins. The music...well it was satisfactory, but could be improved. It sounded like it was an all-Japanese track and paid no attention to what normal Mario Kart music was like. Even though it was unique, it did seem a bit iffy. :-/

Well, nobody got any points. :p
Here are the standings:
1st: RobinFTW (10 Points)
2nd: RafalRib (3 Points)

Now onto #14!
Excitebike Arena
B1C8GmGIIAE0K9r.jpg:large

Excitebike Arena is...well one of the most epic tracks in terms of tricking off ramps. It certainly is fun getting all those low tricks off of ramps! I also like how after every race you playing it (excluding Time Trials), the placement of the ramp changes, making each and every race quite interesting! However, I really don't like the shape of the track---a huge oval similar to Baby Park, but bigger. If it were more unique in shape, it would b much more fun, especially in terms of shortcuts! ;) If it were more unique in shape, people could do...
1. More grass-like shortcuts
2. More ramp-included shortcuts
The music does indeed fit in with the track, but could seem a bit more "modern" compared to a 1980-90s game.
Wow! No points were awarded this time!
1st: RobinFTW (10 Points)

Time for the Unlucky 13!
Ice Ice Outpost
maxresdefault.jpg

Ice Ice Outpost is a creative track. However, it is lacking in a few categories. One thing I enjoyed about the track is the terrain. I liked how the terrain was very slippery and icy---it stood up to the name! :-D The background scene and props were also good, mainly the fact that icebergs would "fall" as time progressed throughout the race. The music is decent, but seems a bit too repetitive. And the cons... Well, all three ramp shortcuts...are...useless... Did you even know that those ramp SCs actually wasted time and not saved time? It was quite funny that the world record for this track used none of those shortcuts! :p I kinda wish that there was a shortcut that made you use a shroom that was more than just a ramp. However, I do like how there are multiple routes on sections of the track, but it would come in to play more if the track were longer and the paths would split more.

RafalRib gets it within 2! (3 Points)
Standings:
1st: RobinFTW (10 Points)
2nd: RafalRib (6 Points)

Do you have a fetish with Shortcuts? LOL
Yes. :p
Shortcuts are what makes races more epic, and the track more creative!
Like that Maple Treeway one. I think it makes courses more fun and unique, like Bowser said.
DAT 3 SHROOM ULTRA SC
IKR LOL. That made the track for me. Anyways, I have to agree on Excitebike Arena. I thought a bunch of ramps would be fun, but it's too linear.

100% Agree. ^
(Also, my best time on MT w/glitch is 2 min, 15 sec! :D)

Time for number 12!
SNES Rainbow Road
maxresdefault.jpg

SNES Rainbow Road has excellent visuals. I like how the road stands up to its name, and that the detail of it really makes it look like a real-life track! On the topic of visuals, I also enjoy the visuals below and in the background, such as the Toad Houses. These little pieces of scenery make the track much better compared to the past two installments that this track was in---Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 7. I also like how the road wobbles whenever Thwomps hit the floor. It made it even more difficult to drive! (And 200cc on this track is NOT a nightmare for me... :p) Perhaps the best thing about the track is the music. In my opinion, this is the 2nd best music in a MK8 DLC track! It flows very well and is quite unique. Now for the downsides...
Well, the track can be somewhat boring to race on. It is too bland on straightaways, and is too short... Also, if you get too close to the edge, you automatically fall off, instead of sticking to the edge, like MK7. It seems like you can't cut corners too well on this track. If only the track was a bit skinnier in depth, you wouldn't be able to fall off as easy.

RafalRib got it spot on! (+10 Points)

1st: RafalRib (16 Points)
2nd: RobinFTW (10 Points)

Number 11!
GBA Cheese Land
MK8-DLC-Course-GBA_CheeseLand-startingline.jpg

GBA Cheese Land was okay... The design of the track was nice; there were a variety of shortcuts. There were also some difficult twist and turns throughout the track, but some of the sections were too bland. There could've been mice serving as obstacles, or possibly an extra Chain Chomp somewhere. The music is also nice---providing both a retro and new theme to it. tbh, I didn't think this track would make it in, nor did I really want it in. But hey! Nintendo tried their best when putting in this track! ;)

No points were awarded today! :p

We're heading into the top 10!
Wario's Gold Mine
630x.jpg

Wario's Gold Mine, a retro track from MKWii, definitely looks visually appealing. The designs of this track are excellent, as well as the music. The music sounds just like from MKWii, but with a few new elements in it. It makes the music nice. 8) The track itself is very nice. I like the anti-gravity sections---especially how you can ride on the cars! I also enjoyed how there were more routes, such as the bottom route where a side ramp used to be. However, I'm actually disappointed how there was no glider sections---the alternate route towards the end and the ramp before you go "inside" by the carts would've been two good spots to use gliders. Overall, I thought this track would return, but I didn't really want it to that much.

RafalRib gets it spot on! (+10 Points)
RobinFTW gets it within 2! (+3 Points)
