Luigi’s Mansion and Mario & Luigi Remakes, Captain Toad Port Announced

Get ready to pull out your wallet, a number of new remakes are headed to the Nintendo 3DS! These include Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey and a remake of the original Luigi’s Mansion.

A port of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is also making the jump to both the Nintendo 3DS and Switch.

Mario & Luigi is getting a side story similar to that of the Superstar Saga featuring Bowser Jr. and his journey during the main quest. The game is currently slated for a 2019 release.

Luigi’s Mansion is headed to the 3DS after 17 years since the GameCube release. The new version features updated visuals and map for the second screen. A new boss rush mode was also announced. Expect a release sometime in 2018.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will feature all the original levels along with a new set of Super Mario Odyssey inspired levels. A worldwide release is set for July 13, 2018.

Luigi’s Mansion 3D is exciting, though the idea of paying full price for an 8 hour game I already own is not very appealing. Bowser’s Inside Story Remake should be good.

I noticed they’re starting to pump out some Gamecube remakes. Super Mario Sunshine HD when? Haha.

The vibe I’m getting here for Luigi’s Mansion and Captain Toad is they want to gauge how much of an audience they can get, before deciding to continue with a further installment. If the games do well, they’ll see value in continuing either series.

For M&L:BIS, boy am I excited. I still remember playing the heck out of the original back in 2009 and 2010, and boy am I excited to play it all over again! It’s great that they’re putting it out for the 10th anniversary (boy that makes it and me sound old).

I heard someone else say that the reason they’re skipping over PiT is that they have assets that can be reused for BIS, which will allow them to develop it faster. That may be true. However, I had a theory that maybe for PiT’s side story, it will have escalated from Bowser’s Minions, to Bowser Jr., to Bowser himself! I don’t believe Bowser plays too large of a story in PiT, does he? I know he does crop up every now and then, but isn’t too involved until the end. Either way, I really hope they don’t just gloss over PiT. I’d like to play that one eventually!
