Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Trailer Reveals New Battle Tracks

A new trailer for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released, showing off all the new content that was added through Mario Kart 8’s DLC. The trailer did show off a few clips of four new battle tracks, making a total of eight new battle maps for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This includes a battle map based on Dragon Driftway, one set in space, one themed after Sweet Sweet Canyon, and the return of Wuhu Island from Mario Kart 7.

Check out the trailer below!

These new battle tracks look great! I can’t wait to try this out, 5 battle modes in one game is not something we can ignore lol.

I can’t wait to see all the triggered people over this new “character” (probably just a color palette tho).

Very glad there are more battle tracks! The different modes look awesome, especially Renegade Roundup!

Although I’m curious if Gold Mario is his own character, or simply a palette swap of Metal Mario (hope it’s the former, since that would mean the roster could have even more potential characters, since a 43rd character would create an extra row).

Tbh I think we would’ve known if there was more characters coming, unless DLC. But even then… I’m not positive it’ll happen.
      (That’s just me though).

True, they may be saving some tracks and characters for MK9

I personally think Marion Kart 9 will be a double dash sequel with the anit gravity/flying etc of Mario Kart 8. It’s really one of the few ways I think the direction of the series can take without looking too similar to Mario Kart 8 in my opinion.

    • We’ve got confirmation that Gold Mario is indeed a seperate character and not a Palette Swap. Just saying. Also he isn’t available at the start either. Hint Hint. Not spoiling other stuff though. Don’t wanna risk pissed off users. :p

Where does it say that they’re separated charcaters? This picture proves nothing since devs sometimes do things not normally achievable (or this could be online :P)

This could be like the Yoshi or Shy Guy palette swaps were multiple players can play as them at once. Although if Gold Mario is a big unlockable, it would make sense to give him his own spot on the roster.

  • I’m so happy to see that the site isn’t dead yet since we haven’t had news in a while.

  • I still don’t get the new Potted Piranha Plant Battle Mode thing. So is it like tag? And when you get hit by a Potted Piranha Plant you’ll be thrown in jail or something? I’ll probably play the mushrooms out of Coin Runners and Shine Thiefs, If I ever get enough money together for a Nintendo Switch. *cri*

Here’s what I understand of it: There’s the Piranhas and the Runners. To win the game, the Piranhas must tag all of the Runners until the time limit’s up.

Whaaaaat??? The site isn’t deaddddd?? And here I thought it was in a grave lol anyways these tracks look awesome but i kinda don’t like just 8… I would’ve been so fine with 10 or more. Wait… 8 battle tracks, Mario Kart 8, ohhhhhhhh

  • Mr. Luiginary

POR FIN! This site actually posted something. Either way, I’m starting to not want to get this version. I know that Gold Mario I’m never gonna use, I do like the options for Battle Mode but I’m having thoughts, and to be honest, the only main reason to buy this version is to play it on the go.

Oh boy, great to be back. Anyways, so, it seems this will pretty much be all of the new content for the game, so nice to see the Boo and Feather back, but I’d love to see the return of the Yoshi Egg… Anyway, the Battle Mode looks amazing. Supposedly, the sweets course could mark the return of Tart Top.

The new Piranha Plant mode looks like it has the “police” and “spies” (the mode is known in Japanese as “Piranha Plant VS Spy”). Based on the footage, a single bite from a Piranha Plant eliminates the racer, placing them into the jail. The spies get to open up the jail if they press the switch, however.

Finally, Gold Mario. There’s about a month and a half before the game releases, so there isn’t much time to add anything more before production and shipping begin. Unfortunately, if Diddy Kong (and Birdo, etc.) were in this game, I think they’d have been shown off by now. However, Gold Mario gives me hope. That he is not the only new palette swap in this game…in fact, in a similar stance to Melee and its clones (that Sakurai not including the clones still wouldn’t have given him enough time to make Wario), perhaps they couldn’t include Diddy Kong and others, but instead got to work on making new palette swaps, such as Fire Mario, Paratroopa, WarioWare Wario, etc.? That’s my hope for now.

    rip Diddy kong & Birdo.
They chose the Inklings over them.

    • E.Gadd

They chose a lot of folks over them. Only ones that really get on my nerves are the multiple variants of Mario and Peach. I mean, I get it. Those are the two main male and female Mario characters. Getting a variant of them is not unexpected and really not that big of a deal usually. But why not stick to like one variant each? This game needed 4 separate Peaches why exactly?

I’ve always personally been a huge fan of battle mode so this news is great and I’m most looking forward to Renegrade Round up. I can totally understand why somebody who isn’t interested in battle mode wouldn’t get this but for a enthusiast like myself it feels long deserved from Mario Kart 8 (WiiU) lack of a substantial battle mode.
