  • I’m so happy Dry Bones made it to the character roster. I’ll definitely play as him and the Inkling Girl as much as possible. The boxart is really colorful.

    • Khy

Agreed. The Inklings look like great additions. I’m not a fan of guests but they look awesome. Better than both Villagers.

  • Luigiguy567

I’m so glad the old battle mode is back. Even if these 4 battle courses are the only ones we’re going to get, I’m still ecstatic. The Inklings look cool, but I’ll be playing as King Boo, Bowser Jr., and Dry Bones the most, and I don’t think we’ve seen everything yet.

On the other hand, I don’t think we’re getting any new courses. If we were, I think they would have shown off at least one in the trailer.

  • Khy

I’m happy. I just wish Birdo and Diddy would’ve made it.

As much as I would have loved a whole new MK, this will definitely do as I didn’t get the chance to play MK8 on Wii U. I just wonder now, will the new content also be available on Wii U as DLC?

  • Mr. Luiginary

I’m wondering if I show get this or not. On the one hand, I don’t feel comfortable spending money on a game I already have for some new features. But on the other hand, THE NEW FEATURES ARE SO NEAT!

This video shows off the character roster. Every one from the reveal trailer is here, plus one character who has yet to be unlocked. Comparing it to Mario Kart 8’s roster, one would say the last spot obviously belongs to the Miis, but I don’t think that’s the case:

    1) The Miis weren’t present in the presentation at all. I think that would be a little odd that such a major feature would be left out of a system’s big presentation, if they were really there.
    2) On the home menu, there was no Mii Maker or tab dedicated to Miis whatsoever.

So I think it’s possible the Miis have been entirely cut from the Nintendo Switch, and that last spot on the roster belongs to someone else. What do you think?

    • MKKINGZ

Possibly, do we even know of Mii’d are a feature to then Switch? It’s entirely possible that they are but Nintendo want to showcase the new design to them closer to release though.

      • Mario_Comix

Maybe we’ll finally get to play as Miis wearing their hair down, NOT in a helmet! haha
Perhaps they haven’t quite figured out what to do about Mii costumes?

    • Miis was confirmed in Local Mulitplayer (Online-Style- Course Choosen) thing

      • Luigiguy567

OK, do you have a video/picture of it?

        • MKKINGZ

Still I find it interesting that they didn’t include them in the demo, possibly means more characters are coming or that we haven’t seen everything that this game has to offer yet. It is still months away from release after all.

  • Mario_Comix

Boy, the new features look great. Love the Double Dash nostalgia when they showcased King Boo in GCN Luigi’s Mansion playing Bob-omb Blast. Despite the fact 3 months still remain until launch, I can’t say I’m too optimistic there will be more content than what’s been revealed, and unfortunately that doesn’t quite justify me buying this whole game again – I really hope some of this content makes its way to the Wii U version. For people who don’t even have MK8 though, this version is fantastic.

    • E.Gadd

I feel the same way. New Cups and I would totally double dip. As of right now, as much as I love the game and this battle mode I just can’t.

      • MKKINGZ

Understandable, it’s a shame 8 tracks couldn’t be added. Still a strong port though.

    • Luigiguy567

Yup. Whether I double dip or not depends on the amount of battle courses, since there doesn’t seem to be any new race courses.

  • MKKINGZ

I’m really looking forward to the return of classic battle mode but with a new level of detail put into its development. That’s the main attraction for me. Characters are fairly strong too, I would of liked Diddy but Dry bones and King boo are personal favourites of mine and Inkling is an appropriate and understandable choice in my opinion. Finally we get to see King boo using the Boo item so I’m really looking forward to that. I’m expecting online connection to be improved too due to the yearly wifi pay Nintendo has added. Maybe even the graphics will be slightly improved too. All in all I can’t wait to pick it up and start battling some of you on community nights.

  • In a discussion that Gamexplain did on their experiences with the switch, they mention that the course selection screen was never shown and that a Nintendo rep said that they didn’t know whether there would be new tracks or not.

  • I’m pissed now. I bought all MK8 DLC and now I basically have to pay for the same game over again. I just hope we’ll get a discount at least. However the Battle Mode looks gorgeous as well as the return of the old item system.

  • BossBlitz

The new box art is L I T!

  • Luigiguy567

Bad news, this Japanese presentation confirmed there will be no new tracks.

Oh well. Hopefully there are more unconfirmed battle courses.

    • Really? Damn… That’s disappointing now I’m even less excited to buy it. Or maybe they are hiding it, who knows? Anyway are you the same Luigiguy as the one that quitted a while back? If so, hey man! Long time no see! If not then I’m confusing you with somebody else my apologies.

      • Luigiguy567

        Yep, it’s me.

  • MotherProdigy

Realllllly hoping we have 7 new maps and 7 retro battle maps. I can’t wait for this

  • DerpyKong

It’s kinda sad this was literally the only thing I was looking forward to for the presentation. Not saying the other games announced were bad, on fact. Some of em’ looks nice. But MK8 Deluxe is what got me the most hyped for this. Why? Because during the teaser, I saw King boo in MK8 and me being the roster nerd I am, made me curious to see who else would be new. And I’m not disappointed, We also got Dry Bones & Bowser Jr along side King Boo! Now we just need Diddy & Birdo lol. (Supposing more characters are coming)

  • Greninjario

Shine Thief and Coin Runners accidentally confirmed by Nintendo of Poland! Also a new Piranha Plant battle mode. That and an amiibo costume for Inkling. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5596c2514b3d9d9c3321cfa8ced757de9bd0ba04219969abba00f735fdb66ed8.png
