Zelda E3 Trailer Becomes Most Popular Nintendo Video in Less than One Week

The E3 2016 trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has become the most popular video on Nintendo’s YouTube channel in less than one week. The Wii U and NX title garnered a lot of attention with its full-blown reveal during Nintendo’s Treehouse Live stream this past Tuesday, leaving the video at about 6,300,000 views six days later.

Zelda beat out the previously most viewed video featuring the introduction of the Nintendo 2DS, a video that was posted over two years ago. The current most popular videos include:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Official Game Trailer – Nintendo E3 2016 – 6,314,000 views (6 days ago)
  • Nintendo 2DS – Introduction – 6,297,000 views (2 years, 10 months ago)
  • Nintendo Direct Presentation – Splatoon Game Overview – 4,385,000 views (1 year, 1 month ago)
  • Super Smash Bros. – Gameplay & Quest for the amiibo! – 4,370,000 views (1 year, 8 months ago)
  • Nintendo 3DS – New Super Mario Bros. 2 E3 Trailer – 3,938,000 views (4 years ago)
  • Nintendo World Championships 2015 – 3,646,000 views (1 year ago)

How did the new Zelda trailer stack up with the other E3 2016 official trailers from Nintendo? Not quite the same results as shown below:

  • Paper Mario: Color Splash – 234,000 views
  • Ever Oasis – 226,000 views
  • Mario Party Star Rush – 195,000 views
  • Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE – 125,000 views
  • YO-KAI WATCH 2 – 113,000 views
  • Rhythm Heaven Megamix – 110,000 views
  • Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past – 93,000 views
  • Monster Hunter Generations – 87,000 views

Demonstrations for Pokemon Sun and Moon, as well Pokemon Go, received over one million views each in their separate gameplay demonstrations.

      Literally

If only they put a fifth of the effort into the recent Mario spin-offs (that probably cost the same).

But by doing that, then there is less effort put into the new Zelda game.

To be fair, Nintendo probably has been putting almost all of their efforts into this game and the NX, so they’ve made a few subpar Spinoffs to fill the massive gap until 2017.
